Well how long do you think a Prelude engine can run? Mileage wise.

Re: Mileage problem..

Had to say i seen some blow up under 50k and some go past 250k and there some traveling sales man that had something like 939,000+ miles on his car and it was still mint. It all is in the care. Go out and drive them see how the sound, feel, smell, taste if your into that kind of thing. I seen ppl look up car and not even go check them out cuz it had 150k on them. My 01 had about 130k and was fine. I know ppl on PZ with 200k and no problems. So to answer you new question a lude engine can last well over 200k if it been taken care of and blow up under 50k if it been beat on.

Re: Mileage problem..

My 4th gen has 230,000 miles, the H23 that came with it blew at 160k miles because the dumbass previous owner ran it THREE (3) quarts low...
Replaced with a H22 which now as around 70/80k on it and running strong.

Generally, if you REALLY want a number, find one with less than 200k miles on it.

I don't that that should be too hard haha.

Mileage isn't all that important. Obviously, most of the time an engine with 50K miles on it will be in better shape than an engine with 150K miles on it. It's all in how the car was taken care of. I got 140K on mine and it's still running like a beast, and I've seen a Mercedes blow up after 20K miles because it wasn't taken care of.

Re: Mileage problem..

I say it all matters about the test drive and the overall look to the car. And also cheacking the carfax report which they should have in every dealer. I got my car stock condition at 130,000 with a clean carfax and now I'm at 150,000 and I had no MAJOR problems with the car (except for some oil leakage). SO as long as you do regular maintenance than it'll all be gravy. Good Luck Youngin'.

Re: Mileage problem..

i say it every time, never buy from a dealership. always buy from a private owner.

You'll get the car cheaper, they'll tell you what the maintainence history looks like, and they'll tell you recurring problems, or problems that have just started. You'll also see who actually owned it before you. If its some kid well most likely its been beat on. Especially if there are aftermarket parts on it. People dont put them on there for nothin...

(take this from an ex car salesman too)

Re: Mileage problem..

Stealerships = No-No. Personally when I was test-driving cars, I beat the hell out of them to see if they were actually maintained well. If they are trying to hide a CEL, a lot of times it will rear it's ugly head if you drive it hard.
