92 Prelude SI Overdrive Problems

I own a 92 SI with 125,000 on the clock. I went out of town for a week and left my kid the keys, big mistake. When I got back, I soon discovered that it shifts hard from park (has been ongoing) but the major concern is that it won't grab overdrive and winds up the tach like a 3 dollar watch! Is there an overdrive lockout switch somewhere on this car that my kid could have inadvertently hit? Any idea's???

There is no button, but there is a lockup clutch solenoid on the transmission, which is basically the Preludes overdrive. On the the front of the tranny there are 2 solenoids, one is a shift solenoid and one is a lockup clutch solenoid. The top one is your lockup solenoid. Look in the service manual, page 14-62. It sounds like the lockup clutch solenoid might be clogged, or shot. Its either that or some type of other internal damage. Service Manual

For your shift hard from park problem, it sounds like your front and possibly rear motor mount is shot.
