2 different test pipes here choose one!!!

ok, I may not know much, but i want to get a test pipe..

- too cheap for a high flow cat!!
- plus test pipes have a little more hp gain is what i heard!

-- anyways dont worry, i still have my stock cat,
so if i need to have smog check, i can pass!!!

ok heres the deal!!!!! need a test pipe and stumble upon these two

1ST--------- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-01...Q5fCarQ5fParts

2ND-------http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-96-97-01-PRELUDE-HIGH-FLOW-CATALYTIC-CONVERTER-CAT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2 Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2e c0Q2em14QQhashZitem260313434021QQitemZ260313434021 QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

****test pipe number 1 is in a straight form like a regular pipe!!

****test pipe number 2 is not a straight from but expanded in a round form.

Deeper sound?

Ok, bumping a thread less than three hours after it was made does nothing but make you look an impatient git, which is a status that probably won't help getting an answer.

As for your question, neither. Get a high flow cat. Look at it this way:

Pros:
-cost
-somewhere between 0.5-1hp gain at the wheels over oem cat

Cons:
-toxic fumes inside the car and out the back
-tinny exhaust note (seriously, show me one test pipe that has a reasonable exhaust note - I've never heard one yet)
-really, really nasty smell (also makes it a dead give-away that you're running catless, and somebody told me that it's a $10,000 fine for running a car that came out the factory with a cat without one)
-somewhere between 0.2-0.5hp gain at the wheels over oem cat

Re: 2 different test pipes here choose one!!!

Not all test pipes are the same. The first one wouldn't work unless you're running a 3" exhaust (which I assume you alredy knew that). The bigger/weirder shaped one would probably hurt exhaust flow velocity. I have the PWJDM test pipe and me likey.

Re: 2 different test pipes here choose one!!!

#2 is a resonator. It will make the car obnoxiously raspier than the #1. Notice I said raspIER as they will both make it sound ridiculous. really.....ridiculous. Plus everything Colin said with the Pros and Cons is a huge understatement. That's him being gentle. True High Flow Cat all the way.

high flow cat

Pros:
won't stink
won't pollute
won't sound like crap
gives approx the same hp increase as a test pipe
passes inspection
doesnt suck
says your not a cheapo...no offense to all you test pipe owners

cons:
I cant even think of any...well maybe the price but we all know you get what you pay for right?

Re: 2 different test pipes here choose one!!!

I figured thats why i could say that since I had a test pipe on my accord lol. It's funny though b/c people w/ test pipes always claim to own a high flow cat....when really.....

Re: 2 different test pipes here choose one!!!

If I had the money I would definitely replace my test-pipe with a high-flow cat. The exhaust note is just a wee bit better.
