Re: Honda street V8 in the making

Awesome!!! would be good for honda to start making rwd cars. The new NSX is coming out with a V10, with about 550 hp, around 2011- 2012, its going to be a beast!!!!! its going for the GT-R and the lexus LF-A

Re: Honda street V8 in the making

The nose would drag... with out serious engine replacement, it wouldn't work with a lude. That would just be WAY to much weight in the front of a FWD.

EDIT: OHHHH Your talking about a new Lude. nvm.

Re: Honda street V8 in the making

The Prelude is dead. We're like RX7 owners. We can complain all we want, but there's not enough of us who would actually buy the new Prelude if they made one. It's a classic now so enjoy that fact, and the fact that we know it doesn't look like a jelly bean like the Civic.

Ditto. I wouldn't buy a new one. I love mine and might even get another (cheap one) if something happened to it, but if I went out and got a car that new, it would be RWD... if they made a mid-engine lude I'd might be tempted... but I think they call the RWD lude an s2000. ;)

As cool as a honda v8 sounds, I think there was a reason they weren't bothering to make one... It's a little impractical and like a move in the wrong direction, esp considering the future of fossil fuels; then again, maybe alternate energies can keep them on the road, but I think maybe we should let the v8 live in the past as a daily driver... then again the efficient corvette engine gets something like 26mpg, better than a lot of these preludes.

Re: Honda street V8 in the making

RWD Prelude = s2000

I test drove an s2000 the other day and I expected a lot more from the car as far as power. Honda needs to step their game up IMO.

8-cyl Vtec sounds good to me...but it would be wierd seeing some big ass honda cruising the streets. Hopefully this engine will be in a NSX style body.

Re: Honda street V8 in the making

The Prelude is a classic? I thought a car had to be 25 years old to be considered a "classic." Unless you're referring to 1st/2nd Gens. Honda V8. That's weird. Maybe it will be supercharged!

S2000 is from the S300 family of convertibles. NOTHING to do with the Prelude.

Re: Honda street V8 in the making

Yes, the V8 is nice. i have seen the only ones that are currently in production. I have seen the Bobby Rahal engines and can let you know that they put down. How does 300BHP from just the block without the heads or anything else attached sound? Now, the one coming out will be severely detuned, but will still pull.

if honder can pull 297hp out of a V6.... just imagine.

V8's have been getting dropped into the noses of ludes and civics for a coupla years now. no nose drag at all, especially with a slight dab of the throttle

the lude is dead people. accept the fact now and it'll be much easier to move on w/ your lives.

Shut up Neck. Lawl. I don't think a car is "dead" as long as it still has followers/enthusiasts.

Quote:

That's what I'm sayin' dood... 297/6 = 49.5hp/cylinder. Honda V8 = 396hp. I think 300 would be conservative.

^^MY DREAM CAR Made by muha22752
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, with a beer in one hand, shouting "Whoo, what a ride!.
I'm no rocket surgeon ok It's not what i say but what i mean you got to read my mind to understand meŠ

Re: Honda street V8 in the making

i honestly dont think it will be a 5.0 or bigger. i'm with yogi. i say a 4.something. think about it, they've always stuck with smaller displacement. while american companies are building 6's at and around the 4L mark, honda has typicall stuck around the 3.0-3.5 region. same with the 4cyl. chevy has built a 2.4 for several generations of cars. honda just recently introduced the k24 not more then a few years ago with the tsx wasn't it? i would bet they do just double the h22, a 4.4L. but being that its for the acura line, its probably gonna go in a luxury car. they might not make it for performance especially if they plan on reintroducing the NSX with a v10. i'm betting the low 300s. like 325. especially if it for a luxury vehicle. now it wouldn't surprise me either if they made a 2nd generation motor from that motor to put in the bottom line NSX... and got like 350-375 range... or better.
