So I was thinking... (Build Plans Change)

Since it is going to be a very long time until I get enough saved up for my head build, I was thinking of getting a P28 chipped with Hondata/eCtune/Neptune/Crome FIRST, and getting a tune done just for my basic bolt-on's (intake, header, exhaust, lean fuel mixture, find optimal VTEC engagement, etc). That way, I will still be buying the parts I need for my build. Also, that will help hold me over until I will have the money for my entire build. Either way, I'm paying to get on the dyno to get a baseline, so I figured I might as well get my **** tuned while it's there. What do you guys think about this?

See and if you can acquire enough knowledge, you can gain A LOT of information needed on what your engine wants and what you want the dyno graph to look like solely from seeing what it likes before messing with the geometry. This is essentially what i have done and i can tell you from experience that i dont regret it one bit. However, i have done all the tuning myself so it was quite a bit cheaper for me and i got to learn another perspective.

That's kinda what I was getting at....Like if I was lacking in mid-range power or top-end power, I could figure out what cams would be better for me than my current choice, etc. etc.... So you're saying do it?

Re: So I was thinking... (Build Plans Change)

So I was actually just thinking about it...And I don't have an O2 sensor at all...No bung for it on the Megan header I have. And I assume that means there's no way to hook up a Wideband....so does this mean that I won't be able to get any tuning done until I get a new header? Or weld a bung onto my current header for an O2 sensor....

Re: So I was thinking... (Build Plans Change)

i think that's a great way to go. A p28 with a decent ems will last you a long time. And it's a good way to get some power out of your basic mods.

I say go for it.

Re: So I was thinking... (Build Plans Change)

That's probably what I'll be doing. As soon as Spring rolls around I'll probably go to an exhaust shop so that can put a bung on my header for me. I was thinking maybe just buy the new header first, but I want to wait and see what Bisi comes out with first.
