Engine Problem pleeaase Help!!!

first my specs....
1998 Honda Prelude Type SH
*****List of mods (mostly bolt ons)****
-ebay cold air intake
-k and n air filter
-megan racing headers
-megan downpipe
-greddy evo2 catback exhaust system
-spoon test pipe
-o2 sensor CEL blocke.( just an extra part for the o2 sensor that tricks ecu from throwing a code cause i'm using test pipe)
-exedy stage 1 racing clutch

----anyways just got my car back from the dealer cause i fried the ecu while doing a timing belt change. a freakin new ecu from HONDA cost $900 so i said forget that
---then got one for 98 prelude sh off ebay for around $100 bucks.
had dealer put it in and they said i needed new spark plug wires.
well drove the car off the lot and engine light was on with the ATTS light. engine was horrible ran retarted.
---well then I went to autozone and bought all new!!
*spark plug wires
*spark plugs
*cap/rotor
*ignition coil
*ignition control module

so all that didnt help much, engine ran a "little" better. basically when i start the motor, it starts really bad, shakes the whole car as it the engine was dying for air but ends up running.
engines shakes really bad on idle and when i come to a stop it dies sometimes.
so a friend looked at it and unplugged one of the vacuum lines from the throttle body. now the engine runs better on idle and doesnt die.
---ok now when im driving, its fine, until i press the pedal to the metal the car sounds like its choking and sounds like a lawn mower with loud explosive fire cracker noises coming from my evo2 exhaust muffler.
guys this is really bad. please help me. i dont know .. theres no check engine light no nothing.. thanks!!!

Re: Engine Problem pleeaase Help!!!

first of all nice set up you've got there... and SH FTW!!

if you throw a CEL the ATTS will automatically light up as well. the ECU is designed to shut down the ATTS unit anytime you throw a CEL to protect it from damage.

you cannot just disconnect your vac line... btw which did you disconnect?
are you sure you bought a "healthy" ECU? is it 100% from an SH?

the more info you give the easier it'll be to help you out.........

good luck and post up some pics of your ride!!!

Re: Engine Problem pleeaase Help!!!

thanks!! ok the ecu i bought was a used SH.
---the old ECU was fried and couldnt start the engine.
---the one i bought started the engine fine.

just has engine prob.
it all started when i over rev my engine. well a friend said my timing skipped so i did a timing belt change. stupid that i didnt unplug the battery cable so i shorted the alternator wires leading to the ecu.
----now after timing belt change, engine wont start.
----towed the car to dealer and thats when it all happen. ecu fried!!

***yep this ecu is for an SH but not sure if its healthy. it works becuase it starts my car.
----------and heres the vac line i disconnected .it was for a fuel pressure regulator.
\\if i plug the vac line in, THE ENGINE SHAKES AND DIES!!!!
// if i unplug it, THE ENGINE RUNS FINE..
this is wierd!!!!!

Re: Engine Problem pleeaase Help!!!

Whats up my prelude peeps .Yea the freaking dealers are a pain they will rape you clean i used to work for one .my thoughts about what is going on with your ludes could be simple trouble with your o2 sensor even if there's no cel on . Do a test on it check for contunity, and disconnect the o2 sensor sees if that changes engine tone and idle ,then check you pressure regulator ,your distributor ,coil, grounds ,and double check your timing and try different ecu from another car of the same gen and model it try your ecu on the other car if owner lets you that way you won't take the risk of frying his ecu and the result will confirm if your ecu is done .Hit me up withe any results .Peace out .John
