auto>>5spd.. it will be done very soon

so after a month or so of tracking parts down and getting a friend of mine to help me out I will be doing the swap either this weekend if my tranny gets here on friday.. if not next weekend.

I have to thank 97predator for his input and help.. I didn't even come close to the $800 it cost him to do his swap.. i'm closer to $1700.. but I got some sweet ass parts.. and a few things i didn't really need at the moment but figured I might as well upgrade while i'm doing the swap.

I picked up some Innovative Mounts which aren't necessary for the swap but my stockies are over 10 years old so while the tranny is out the rear mount won't be such a bitch to swap out. I paid a bit extra for the braided steel for the master and slave.. and I picked up a nice ACT clutch kit and Fidanza flywheel.. so yeah.. not the cheapest way to go but when she is done I know it will be worth the coin.

I plan on taking a crap ton of pictures so hopefully I can put together another nice How to... but i might just be to busy trying to get this done so i don't tie up my friends shop for too long.

Soon after this is done I'm hoping to get to seattle and do a tune and dyno run at intec.. we'll see how many horses I gain with the swap. Any bets?

I think at least 30.. hoping for 50.. lol

I was wondering where you were...

Maybe 10% gain I would imagine. That's about the difference between ss auto and 5 speed stock for stock.

Keep us posted mate.

well first off good luck....
if you have any other ???? lemme know.
800 for used junkyard and some new parts were used.
f22 tranny to start w/ thats why my initial swap was so cheap.
major plus w/ the steel braided line.. no need for dampeners.

Re: auto>>5spd.. it will be done very soon

you can use the auto ecu. but iirc you get like a check engine light the whole time. but in order to get rid of that you need someone who knows how to chip ecus. they should be able to get rid of that.

Really? The engine won't start if the shifter isn't in P or N, so is is there a way to get around that?

Re: auto>>5spd.. it will be done very soon

well you can wire the the neutral/park switch wire to the clutch depress switch so when you depress the clutch the ecu thinks its in neutral or park. or you just completely remove the neutral/park switch and hardwire it so its as if the car is always in park or neutral.. hense why the park light stays on when you have the auto gauges..... but that will also allow you to start the car with out depressing the clutch... which can make for a bad outcome if you're not careful. and i believe that is a step in the DIY thread somewhere that i saw long ago but can't find now. i wanna say it was either on NTPOG or PO or something.

your auto ecu will be fine ... i ran w/ man for awhile.
as far as i can remember... (i did the swap 3 years ago) i didnt throw a cel.
as far as getting to start... there is a nuetral safety switch relay to the left side underdash by the steering column. the wire is blue... you just ground the wire. this will enable you to start the car.... even without pushing the clutch pedal down. you could hook it up to the clutch pedal/nuetral safety switch that mount to the clutch pedal. i didnt bother because i had put in a remote starter... and if i hooked up the clutch pedal switch then it wouldnt start (yea i live dangerously w/ a remote start on a 5spd LOL) :clock:
