Track Car

Alright so i've been thinking about this for a while since my friend died "street racing"

I want to make a track car, er i will.
i just need the whole car part haha.

My idea's as of now are basically to get everything out.
No p/s i think thats a rule for the dirt track anyway.
i dont wanna risk the AC being a problem so that's gotta go

i think i want lexan glass
and possibly a fuel cell
5pt seat harness (rule i'm pretty sure)
cut out unwanted metal brackets and other pointless things meant for luxury in a prelude

winsheild washer stuff, blower motor, carpet, dash, etc. including all of the things that normal "weight reduction" noobs dont take out because they daily drive the car. yes, that includes the stereo and speakers. its a track car not a ****in beauty queen. and we WONT be needing the spare lol

I want to run steel rims 14 4x114.3's because of cost, and the fact that imma be able to put some big beefy tires on those.

since it's a track can im going to do either no cat or high flow.
ebay header collector mod to that highflow IF its a h22
anything other than an h22 and it's getting straightup boosted!
custom exhaust made by a buddy

it's a 500 dollar car basically on it's way out and my and my friends want to fix it so we can race it, and encourage kid's our age to stay off the streets with their ego's

help me out with my idea;s and you canhelp me build my first trackcar the correct way!

p.s.
I'll be running 100/115 gas only since it's a track car, the only place it will be driven is at the track.

edit;
oh yeah, we won't be wasting out money on CAI's or SRI's
if were making power were making power!
no wasted money on paint and cosmetics, if it breaks, its done!

Re: Track Car

you may end up wanting some boost on the h22 as well.

you will be getting it dyno tuned, right? running that octane I would think it's a must...

sounds like fun

Re: Track Car

why dont you do time attack racing to just to add to all the tings you want to do. but as im seeing it for most of then things you want to do keep it n/a and make it have good throttle response and suspension will have to be adjustable since drag and autox suspension is different.

and what might i need sir?

mr y82;
the only way i'll tune is if we mod the HELL out of the engine.
i've come to realize my 1997 model is a big baby and i won't be upgrading much more. powerwise that is.

i think theres a place i can get sunoco so that might be fun haha.
my friend with a 90SI will be heping my and my friend who brought this idea up.

The idea of nitrious came to the minds of us all.
if its an h23, 500 bucks for the horse power can't be beat....
plus h23's are more disposable than h22's you know...

or if we just **** up the head. i smell the second h23vtec on the market really soon!!!

theres so many power options i'm unsure.
if i h23 vtec it, i can get in the "unmodified" class.
stockcar racing ftw!!!

when really is should be pushing some decent numbers. If i can tune that and run it on 100 oct. i could make some pretty decent BHP is i rmember blake's numbers.

i REALLY want to just rip out the dash and make an aluminum plate to replace the dash.

airbags are a no-no i found out...
new steering wheel!

i have too many ideas...
bustr, get back to me on your ideas!

Re: Track Car

okay....

1 WEIGHT REDUCTION
... REMOVE FRONT BUMPER SUPPORT replace w/ lighter weight bars (depends on what type of racing your doing... you wont have the safety of a street legal car anymore no more crumple zones)
REMOVE REAR BUMPER SUPPORT also replace w/ possibly one bar just to hold up bumper.
^alot of drift and drag cars do this.

2 TRACTION/HANDLING
... traction bar (im working on making custom traction bars i just made the prototype on my car i wanna see what advantages and disadvantages there are before selling them)
it stiffens up the front, brings caster closer to make wheel base longer... better handling/launch etc fully adjustable.... eliminates front motor mount.
....motor mounts innovativemounts.com makes motor mounts for 300- get them! no more wheel hop and motor wont budge.
..... rear sway progress /st.... something to stiffen it up alittle bit more. custom adjustable endlinks.... to make it as stiff as you want.
3 MOTOR since your still not sure....boost/juice/allmotor. get back to me on that what you wanna do. if your sticking w/ h23 i would boost it...... its easy enough to put a bolt on kit and upgrade it little by little depending on power that you want. if you go h22 you can boost... alot more money... to build that is. but if not.... build up the head... do type s pistons, thinner cometic headgasket, cams/valvetrain. and whatever little bolt ons you can.
4 TRANNY h23 obx lsd (CHEAPER ONE but i have it and works amazing)
... fidanza flywheel act extreme pressure plate and act 6puck sprung
grips like a mother

Re: Track Car

why not build a track car for road courses instead of drag. I was never a fan of drag racing. If i had a track car i would be at VIR all day!!!

Re: Track Car

you dont need to run race gas. You would only need race gas if you were pushing a lot of power or you were running high compression. If you dont need race gas, you can actually lose power from using it.

building your "track" car completely depends on what you want out of it.
