Anti Freeze leaking from this area?

What the hell is this (look @ pic) and why is it (or something around it) leaking something that looks like antifreeze?

It's a '97 type SH w/ roughly 154,000

Re: Anti Freeze leaking from this area?

probally just a hole in one of the coolent lines, nothing too major, just have to find out which one it is and have a little time to change them out, checking your hoses is kinda like one of those keeping air in your tires kind of thing, it needs to be done but don't really realize it untill it's too late....

it would probally be a good idea to go ahead and change all of them out, if it hasn't been done yet, it will surely need it before long

^ x2.

It could be a coolant bypass hose, a tiny, tiny hose that splits two ways...mine broke and it sprayed coolant all over my engine bay. Hotrod's also broke and sprayed into his distributor...make sure you service that asap. Winter is coming!!

Re: Anti Freeze leaking from this area?

you see those two hard lines in your pic that are parallel and on top of the tranny? those are some coolant hoses for your ATTS, and since thats where your leak is localized, i'd check those lines first for some leaks/holes.

Re: Anti Freeze leaking from this area?

yep, Just replaced the thermostat bypass hose on mine... it is on the back of the head RIGHT behind and below the distributor... they get lil pin holes and spray everywhere... mine cost me like $12 and took me about an hour said and done....

JUST BE SURE to follow the instructions for bleeding the air out of and refilling the cooling system. (there is a link in the DIY thread.)
