2000 prelude SH - catalytic converter?

Hey so I had a check engine light on and just took it to the dealer i brought my car from and they said that the catalytic converter wasn't getting enough heat to it or something along those lines. I was just wondering if any of you had any ideas on what else I could do to possibly check this or any help you guys can give me, thanks.

The cat isn't getting enough heat into it? That's worrying.

The only reason the cat works is because they put it in the hottest part possible of the exhaust system - at the end of the header.

Did you ask them what numer the CEL was?

no i didn't, kinda my first car/first time doing this ****, if you plugged it into the computer again even if the engine light wasn't on anymore could you still get a readin or does the engine light have to be on? because i am in a heavy duty mechanics course and theres a auto shop in the same building that i could probably get them to check it out and get the # that way. unless the engine light has to be on.

if you had a check engine light and than it went off your car may still throw the code. you should hood it up to the scanner and see what it reads.

if you need a new stock cat i have 2 of them. $25+ship. let me know

good luck

dont worry about it until your CEL comes back on. then get the code, let us know, and we'll help you troubleshoot it
