Driver Side Axel

So today I started hearing a little clunking noise while gliding but it wasn't loud so I didn't worry too much. Then like 15 miles down the freeway it was really loud like an amazingly loud clunkclunkclunkclunkclunk right yeah and it only went away when i would break or accelerate.

Am I correct about the driver side axel??

Re: Driver Side Axel

it may be the driver side axle. makes sense if you are hearing it while accelerating. are you feeling a vibration during this? if so it's more than likely your axle.

Re: Driver Side Axel

if it does it while turning also then it is definatly the axle, could be the bearing tho.

^that is true.

Me and a buddy were talkin one day and it turned out we both had a clunking sound and vibrations etc etc. and I thought I knew that it was axles for both of us (he had a 94 bubble). Well mine turned out to be axles, his turned out to be a wheel bearing problem.

It definitely sounds like axle(s) to me, but keep that in mind if you replace the axle and the sound/vibrations dont go away, could be a bearing problem.

Re: Driver Side Axel

the best way to double check it go to a big parking lot and turn the wheel all the way to one side and start moving. if the axle is bad it will start clicking right away
