Re: The Prelude Curse

ill keep my fingers crossed. im not saying a word. the key word is maintenance!!!! if you maintain the car it will last that is all there is too it. so if the person before you didnt. then you will get the affects of it. there is no curse. i dont believe in them

Re: The Prelude Curse

Well to start off with.... every old car does that. Doesn't matter what make it is, specially if its a well driven car and not a car which is taken for a spin every weekend and sits in the garage being serviced every 3 months (500miles).

The only thing I'd say it actually is a prelude curse is the fact that it feels like these cars, specially 4th gens are made to be crashed. Almost everybody I know crashed their prelude. I had it hit 3 times in 2 or so months. None of them my fault(found it dented by a large hauler in parking lot, scooter crashed into the back of me, 2 days after I repainted the car found its rear bumper swiped in parking lot. My friends all crashed their preludes when it wasn't even their fault. I have no idea why this is happening.

Also Gen 4 are a massive pain to park. I used to be very good with parking slapping stationwagons in a lot of tight as spots without ever damaging anything but with the lude.... OMG cand't make it fit anywhere.

Re: The Prelude Curse

well... the newest 4th gen out there is still 12 years old, almost 13 now. thats pretty old for a car. and its because we love our cars so much, when something goes wrong with someones corolla, its like oh well get it fixed whenever. but when something goes wrong with our cars, we flip out because were in love ya know?

Re: The Prelude Curse

On my Gen 4:

- front shocks are stuffed
- mid section of the rear seats needs recovered
- my intake manifold gasket needs resealing because it wasn't put intact a few mnths back and it makes a whistle noise when idle or low acceleration
- oil leak which got better lately but still slowly seeping out.

Re: The Prelude Curse

^ if you think about it our cars are from 18 to 14 years old, for a car that old and still run with 100+k on it realy is awesome. In 1992 there were 3 hot cars in my eyes, 1992 prelude, 1992 MR2, 1992 3000GT. and i like the prelude the most, it has the least problems and the motors are well dpendable, what do you expect from a 19 year old car, **** im hella happy and most of my problems are minor things that i will fix, but mechinical wise its a stong runing car

Re: The Prelude Curse

they are old but yea, there is always something that is wrong. i only need to do body work, paint, find my oil leaks, possibly rear camber kit, replace climate control, lower front BJs, right axle eventually(boot ripped on inside but i dont really care..so eventually)

already did:
2 rear bearings
ds axle
ds rotor
tie rods
vss
tps
headers, cat, 'L' Pipe section (stock ones were ****ting out on me)
fuse panel
power antenna
speakers
k frame
rear control arm
front upper ball joints/camber kit
stock rim was bent so i bought a new set of rims
front bumper lights (mom backed into mine lol)
taillight

i think thats it

i got ripped off no doubt but o well

Re: The Prelude Curse

all of the front ball joints
left front wheel bearing
inner and outter tie rods on the left
new tires
rear brakes
had to weld the left rear sway bar bracket to the car because some how the nut that are built into the rear frame ripped out (Ive seen other ludes do this so if you car is making a clunking sound in the rear look for it)
all of the belts
rear sway bar end links
front sway bar bushings
one front wheel stud and one rear one (dont ask lol)
so many torn boots one the cv's I dont want to add them up

but hey my baby had about 200 grand on it and still runs like a mother F**ker
