Aftermarket headers

Hey guys/gals:

I was looking at http://preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=9252 and after reading through that I get the impression with my H22a4 engine bolting on a DC/Megan/whatev header, I won't really be seeing any power gains. Not quite ready (or capable at the moment) to drop a grand for custom headers. So what would you guys reccomend? Stick with stock (hope not) or if not what brands you think are best.

Sorry for the noobish question, just starting my journey with the Lude :noidea:

P.S. Oh and I could probably find someone to do a collector mod, that a good alternative? (props to Si Speed for explaining that one to me)

Re: Aftermarket headers

if you plan on complete the "air" circuit than i'd go with the megan. they are quality and the price is very reasonable.

intake, header, cat, exhaust.

Re: Aftermarket headers

well to tell you the truth, all of them are copies whether its megan, DC sports, obx, ebay stainless steel, greddy. etc.. of the oem h22 header, so basically any of them are good if you wanna replace h22 header just for the hell of it. PROBABLY the only difference is the quality, like ebay or obx header may be prone to rust or crack quicker than lets say greddy or dc. Personally I'm not paying a grand for custom header so I know where youre coming from, but all i know that when I get my Buddy Club Pro Spec catback, I'm throwing a megan stainless steel header in there even if its to make 1 horsepower. Feel me?

Yeah for sure I'm going to complete the circut, I have a mangaflow cat on the way, still lookin around for i/e. I'm a college student, so cash is hard to come by and parts aren't always that cheap. I got a job, so at least I can get some money for em.

if you are on a budget that get a bs intake off of ebay and put a K&N filter on it and use the money that you'll save for your exhaust

i'd def go with megan. you can get them for under $150 shipped for your header.

what are your plans for the cat-back exhaust?

Re: Aftermarket headers

I dunno yet. I want something that doesn't sound like im driving a train all day, but I would like something with a nice growl to it. if it comes with a coffee can tip, i'll probably swap that out with another aftermarket one that is dual tip.

You guys/gals have any suggestions on a cat-back that would fit that description?

Re: Aftermarket headers

WS2 is def what I'm gonna get, that's exactly the sound im looking for. I got a guy down here that'll do a good job on the collector mod to 2.5" to tack onto the 2.5" hi-flow cat I got.

Does the WS2 cat-back just bolt onto the cat? I know it's got a 60mm piping, which is approx 2.36 inches. Will I have trouble with this?

If your going to spend any money on an intake, go Type-S with a K&N drop in
if they are all the same length and pipe diameter, the part you liked is all in your head.
