Hi-flow cat

Hey guys and gals:

My baby lude ('01 base) is starting to grow up and the first things I'm going to do are the basic bolt-on mods. When it comes to headers and cat-back I know what I'm looking for, but for the cat itself i have no clue. You guys have any suggestions for what brands or types work best? I know the inlet /output size has to match the header output / cat-back input sizes and I have a couple options for various sizes (2.25 - 3 in.) for both so I can kinda work around that.

What's worked well for you all?

P.S. Sorry for the noobish question.

No, I don't think you want to get the universal cat. I believe #22644 is the part number you want for a 5th gen.

Hmmm... I'm not sure which is the "official Magnaflow" website. I found the same model number here:

I'm doing a 2.5" exhaust system, so I need one that's got a 2.5" inlet/outlet

Re: Hi-flow cat

So any ideas? What have some other people used? Is the universal one what I'm looking for? I know if I get the direct fit, it's going to have a 2" in/out so what do I do?

Re: Hi-flow cat

I got a random technology hi flow cat for my 01 base, its direct fit and was a pretty easy install. I like it. Any of you guys have your check engine light come on after a hi flow cat install? Mine came on and I figure its just cause it's outside of stock parameters. Anyone know how to get that to go off?

Re: Hi-flow cat

obd I conversion and a chipped p28... if it's legal there and you want to spend a lot of money.

is hondata coming out with support for obd II? what about an apexi neo or something? you can get piggyback management on obd II right? I am a 4th gen man...
