Re: stage 1 clutch?

a good stage 1 has about 40% more torque holding potential.. it bites nice and hard, but takes a little getting used to (that is the only negative I can think of... but it isn't really negative). I think you will find that it last longer than a OE clutch (the exedy OE style clutch should be a very good stock replacement if you decide against stage 1)

I have only driven my stage 1 competition clutch (no other aftermarket brands), but it is a great clutch and I think my motosports guys (pretty much all they use) got it for my for $285...

ACT and Clutchmasters should be of comparable quality.

Re: stage 1 clutch?

getting a new clutch also requires a new pressure plate, throwout bearing, and flywheel (or at least get your old one resurfaced)

and installing it is around 5-600, so its not gonna be a cheap job.

Re: stage 1 clutch?

$285 was my complete kit... used the stock flywheel on my "new" h22a, resurfaced as stated above...

install will cost a bit.. :)

I paid $900 for labor on my project (engine...h23>h22, tranny, koyo rad, new complete exhaust w/ ceramic header, stage 1 clutch, strut bars, suspension (not counting the bushing install..)... I probably forgot something...). It was a great deal; I'm glad I knew my mechanic ahead of time.

Re: stage 1 clutch?

Exedy Stage 1, SPEC Stage 1, or Exedy OE. Avoid Zoom and XTD clutches
