Radiator

I think I am having a radiator problem. The other day while driving maybe 15 miles an hour I heard this soft pop and fizzle and steam was just barley coming out of the engine. So I go check under my hood and there is coolant on the dust shield down there.

I decide it is ok to limp it about 500 ft to a friends house and take out the radiator to check everything. I take out the radiator and the spill is mostly concentrated on the lower river side, where the rubber grommet goes into the hole to hold the radiator up. I let it sit, fill it up and can't find that much leaking anymore (even a day later my radiator is still full).

I drive it 15 or so minutes to my house and take off the radiator cap and nothing. I don't think it is pressurizing and I don't see signs of it over heating. Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions you guys have I would love to hear.

And sorry the post was so long.

"and nothing" what?
like nothing as in there was no coolant in there?
or as in there were no more problems?

and did you fully flush the rad while it was out? in case there was a blockage in it.

Re: Radiator

There was coolant but i thought that it should have squirted out because it was pressurized. But perhaps I got that wrong.

Re: Radiator

hmmm yea, driving for 15 minutes def shoulda made it squirt out when you took the cap off.
but if the engine was cold, you let it warm up, then take the cap off, it shouldn't squirt out.

you shoulda had the rad pressure tested while you had it out.
