Re: Really hot hood!

i have never seen any come with insulation under the hood... your hood is going to be a little on the hot side though due to how close the motor sits to the under side of it

Re: Really hot hood!

It's a funny one. They were fitted to practically all AUDM Preludes, but I've never seen one on any US delivered cars. Contrary to popular belief the factory isn't stupid, so if its not there then it isn't really required. What's the paint look like on your hood now?

Re: Really hot hood!

I've never seen hood insulation on a US Prelude. My hood has factory stickers on it so I am saying no there is not supposed to be insulation up there.

Re: Really hot hood!

Personally, if I lived in a cooler climate, like Ireland, I would embrace a hot hood.

I remember when we were in Ireland int he middle of July, and it was like 50 degrees. I definitely hadn't packed accordingly.

Tell ya what...fry up some eggs on it!

Re: Really hot hood!

So the paint hasn't been hurt in 15 years, it won't start to look like crap tomorrow. Just keep it clean and polished and you should be right.

Re: Really hot hood!

It's been good for 15 or so years looks like you don't need it. Alot of the time the hood gets messed up from sun and other thing. Some one told me that it made to keep the heat in not for the hood b/c there is some kind of air flow on the bottom and the top stays cool for the wind but when it's cold the engine needs the heat. IDk i think it's bs up never know.

Re: Really hot hood!

H4L has one, but his was imported.
So the short answer is, no US Prelude came with it.

I must beg to differ...It was definitely Ireland. I specifically remember walking around Dublin, almost getting hit by 2 buses and a taxi, it was raining, at most 50 deg. and miserable.

Re: Really hot hood!

I bought one for my 2001 Prelude a few years ago from Rextudio on ebay. I didn't pay $600 bucks for it.

It was one of the best upgrades I done to that car.
