Re: general tuning
I was just gonna post about eCtune again, then I saw it was you and we had talked about it... good luck... every once in a while mine will take a bit to start, but just a couple times after the swap, I wait for the fuel pump, but I think maybe I just jumped the gun a time or two... hope you get some help.

Re: general tuning
but every single time the car sits for more than just a few seconds...
only way to make it start faster than 5 revoloutions is by priming. again ectune or ecu tuning alltogther is the only way to go i just need this thing solid for 1 or 2 more track run before the money comes for the real tuning. and theres stil a few more mods to work out. |

Re: general tuning
is it losing fuel pressure like an SOB somewhere?... maybe you were on to something with that line of thinking? you can still rep me for the ignition timing if you want ;)

Re: general tuning
![]() ![]() not it runs smoother or "seems" better..... before i poped the filter off i checked one last time the fuel pressure gauge was 40 dead on the money and when i reved her up about half 2 wot it would raise to 43 tops replaced the filter and asked my girl to read me the gauge as i primed it she said the highest it went was almost 50 started the car and the pressure was at about 46 lbs and half reved just over 50 had to turn the pressure down poured out some fuel from the filter....it was black took her for a spin im gona get greedy here and bump the fuel up in 1 psi increments and see how it feels... |

Re: general tuning
good to hear, I would be tempted to tinker with some stuff like that if I hadn't been fully tuned...

Re: general tuning
ya dont mess up a good thing.
i just want to land a 15 before i get invasive in modding this engine. if it cant do it it might not be worth it.... so i advanced the timing again in accordance with my elevation. i cant get the timing nailed tho theres to much a fluxation in the reading and i know it is because of the worn out wires. so its pretty close ill say to where it needs to be but not perfect. took that for a drive....couldent really tell, felt like it smoothed out. took the fuel presure up 1 lb and realized im not going to feel a lb so i doubled it and went for a spin. the powerband feels like it wants to go higher no flatness like before. i wonder if it needs more i can play around with it but ill never really know until i get a wideband on it. lets be modest tho with just headers custom 2.25 exhaust and a cai the fuel shouldent need more than just a kiss of adjustment. the best sign all night, ive been consistantly starting from a dead start to wot and shift at 6500 consistantly then back to wot and up through 3rd except this time the tires chirp when i droped second. and the car starts right up! Re: general tuning
somethings not right.
the chilstons states that the 95 <-"as high as my manual goes" h22 takes 24-31 psi. at the same time my engine is not the 95 model. according to the guy i bought it from its a 96 not the 97 i somehow got in my head. does anyone have the spec for fuel pressure for the 96 h22? does anyone also happen to have the specs for the 97 and the 99? |

Re: general tuning
did you say if it was loosing pressure or not when you turned the car off... cuz i dont think it is supposed to

Re: general tuning
yes yes finaly this is the help ive been craving
lets get one thing straight ![]() i am testing and tuning it with the vac line on....i have not removed it from the start. and yes the pressure on the fuel rail drops to zero absoloute 0 within a second or two of the car being off. its a aem rail and adjuster with a areomotive gauge hooked right to the rail to the small 8mm hole just to the left of the f.p.r. still looking for those presure specs guys i need the pressure suggestion for the 96 97 and 99 h22!!!!!!!!!!! today with the almost 200 miles i had to drive some highway some city i spent the first half of the day runing on 42lbs the motor feels very smooth and pulls good. i then droped it down to what the spec is for the 95 h22 (24-31) started at 24 the vtech engagement feels stronger it realy does but only that area amnd only at 5500-maybe 5600. then i brought it up to 28 felt about the same maybe a lil more low end power then i brought it to 31 and it feels like a smoother overall but stil dosent feel right 42lbs feels the best! again im going back to the problem lyes in the pump and not nessisarly presure at this point but volume am i compensating for this with pressure? to many questions but please continue to contribute ideas! i really need those specs tho guys once again the fuel pressure specs for the 96 97 and 99 h22a1 |

Re: general tuning
with the vac line disconected from the fpr the pressure jumps about 10 lbs on idle and of course dosent move any higher when you crack the throttle.
with the vac line on the presure drops about 10lbs on idle but jumps about 10 lbs when you crack the throttle. i had to read that 2 times my self after writing it lol without touching the adjustment... conected: 30lbs idle 40lbs reved disconected: 40lbs idle 40lbs reved did i miss something about tuning it relating to the vac line? looking back at it now all the years in my manual (up to 95) state a fluxuating fuel pressure. same as most other cars. it seems it jumping about 10 lbs is why they refer to the fuel presure in a range not a set value. 24-31lbs for the h22 up to 95 (as far as my book goes) |

Re: general tuning
well shes runing alot better v-tech feels smoother after a good motor flush and puting her on a healthy diet of synthetic amsoil
theres a few loose end i gota tie up with the ignition system and get the stock muffler off after i had to go to cort oer the modified exhaust canon but the whole exhaust system i had replaced all on custom 2.25 with a cat size 1 step up. cant wait to get her back to the track! |
