oil consumption

Im shopping 5th gen preludes right now. I would like to know if any oil consumption would be considered normal or ok. I found one that seems to be in great condition but the guy says it consummes a little less than 1 quart of oil per 5000km (3000 miles).
So is it possible to find one that does not consumme oil and does that sound like a lot?
Thnaks
Chris

Sorry, it is not possible....All preludes to my knowledge will consume oil...the amount varies depending on how much you are in VTEC between each oil change...and on your driving habits...

alot of oil consumption is due to a leaking cam seal, if your not leaking and you vtec pretty decently then youll lose about a half a quart every 3 k, so thats a quart every 6k? time for an oil change anyways!

good idea to always check your oil level!

Ok perfect. Cause I found a 1997 Prelude with 137000Km (85000 Miles). Its an auto and the tranny was apparently rebuilt at 88000 Km(50000Miles). It has a brand new paint job silver/grey painted about 1 month ago. The guy says everything is A1 and everything works. Comes with 17 inch mags and brand new tires. It has a lip on the front and the back. Says it consumes less than a quart every 3000 miles.
He's asking 6800$. Sounds like a good deal to me. What do you guys think?

sounds good to me man...just make sure you give it a detailed inspection before you commit....such as checking the engine bay for any loose wiring, or leaks of any kind, rotors, brakes, etc...and ask for a test drive too...get to know the car a little before you buy it...

Make sure you test drive!!

This is so important because if there is something that is throwing you off after you buy it and didnt test drive it correctly (the way YOU will be driving it) then your effed...

This happened to me once and I never let it happen again. When I test drove the Prelude I own now I told the guy he probably wouldn't want to come on the test drive, he asked why and I said straight up "I believe in test driving the vehicle the way I will be driving it, if you want to come, be my guest, but I gotta tell ya, I don't wanna hear anything about it!

(He didn't come along, lol)
