no no, you want to use something softer to clean the carbs Aoife. They sell, specifically, "Carb-cleaner" spray. It's potent enough to clean, soft enough not to harm....----that sounded like a television commercial

Im sure in the online manual(in my sig)there should be directions on how to remove your carburetors to clean.

Carb cleaner is good stuff, just spray it around and see the gunk come out. You don't need to remove them. If they're REALLY bad then ya but I doubt they're that bad yet.

True but it's kinda fun to tinker with stuff that is if you don't mess it up or bust a few knuckles.

People always say that. . .but I'm too scared to mess mine up. Maybe if it was a single carb set-up. Well actually mine apparently lack springs, got them from another member who "tinkered" with em.

Aoife, i used carb & intake cleaner on mine, pretty much any brand of it will do. Follow the instructions for cleaning the injection intake ie. running the engine, revving it when you blow in a quick squirt of cleaner.

The problem with not taking them off is that they're mounted on the back of the engine pointing backwards and they're very hard to get at, i couldn't even see inside mine as i had no mirror to get the angle.

Also, whilst you're in Halfrauds, you'll see the reddex injector cleaner, next to it will be a very similar bottle of essentially the same stuff, but it's not marked for injection engines. Whack some of that through the tank a couple of times and it will help greatly.

Reddex carb treatment is what you're putting through it, no it doesn't matter about the slick50.
