Turbo parts query

Hey guys,
Just joined up recently and got a few questions to do with my turbo build.
I've researched alot(including this site) and got a fair idea of whats needed.
Low comp forged pistons, con rods, cylinder sleeving, fuel pump, hd clutch, lightened flywheel, lsd ect........
Ok first off I know I'll need an upgraded ignition system but unsure of which parts in particular I'll need, also injectors but unsure of size(thinking about 500cc).
When it comes to the turbo I'm unsure of what model would be suitable. My goal is 200kwatw(260hp). Something fast spooling(well as fast as possible but still give me my goal power)
What brand of mainifold is strong and allows me to keep my ac and ps.
I've heard that headwork isn't necessary given my power goal, is this true?
Who knows about hondata ems's, what model is right for me?

As you can see I got a buttload of questions, I'll keep them coming as I think em up
Cheers

Just playing devil's advocate, are you set on the idea of a turbo? Or would you consider a supercharger?

There are a couple of turbo fifth gens in our Members rides forum, have a squiz through there and see if your questions are answered. (I'm a boost noob)

stock ignition is good for about 400hp. but obviously your gonna want some colder plugs, like NGK brk7e's. wires aren't terribly expensive either, and are always a good maintenance thing to do.

DSM 450's are good for around 280-310hp, plus they can be found for very cheap, and can plug directly into the injector clips, with no wiring needed. you just need to enlarge the injector o-ring w/ a dremel.

you also never told us what engine you got. assuming you have either a 4th or 5th gen, the turbo sizes are almost the same for all 3 diff engine choices. 260hp isn't really all that much, and you could prolly do that on a stock engine, but if you have the money to build the engine, why not. a standard t3/t4 57 trim should serve your needs nicely, and will allow you room for more power, up to 400hp if you wanted, cuz once you go boost, you alwwayyyssss want more.

rest of your inquiries depend on your engine, which you still haven't disclosed.

^Cheers mate, my engine is a h22 VTiR(or base for yankees). Yea I probably would go higher than 20kwatw, but my goal is to have a realiable daily driver so building the block is a must for me(piece of mind thing ya know).
I've been told by a bunch that an ignition coil, plugs and wires upgrade is a must, but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to FI.
Any advice for my other Q's would be helpful.
Cheers
PS Oh yea it's a fifth gen h22z(thats no typo either!). Was the last of the h22's for the 00 to 01 VTiR and ATTS models. Most people are unaware.

That's ok mate, they learned abuot the Z blocks when I joined here...

Stock output is about 100kW atw, so 200 would be a huge increase, and is relatively easily achievable.

since you sound like your from down under, i think you might hafta ship the block here to the US to get it sleeved by Darton, AV Engineering, Laskey, or whoever else sleeve's H-blocks. unless you or Colin specifically know a machine shop in Aussie-land who can deal w/ the factory FRM sleeves.

pistons: mahle, JE, wiseco....
IF YOU HAVE A REPUTABLE TUNER!!!!!...... you can actually stay at the stock compression ratio and make a bit more power. but if you don't feel too comfortable with 9.8/10:1, most people drop it to 9:1 for boost.

rods: eagle, carrilo, crower....

fuel pump: walbro 255HP. hands down.

clutch: exedy, clutchmasters, or centerforce, around a stage 2 or stage 3 if your plannin on turning the boost up.

flywheel: fidanza

You can only go with mahle pistons if you Dont sleeve it. If you do, you should go with CP pistons.

And i would stick with the stock Flywheel for turbo.

Elee from In The Red Performance (http://inthered.com.au/) had a killer turbo fourth gen, he would be a prime candidate to talk to. They can do Hondata as well, but he's in Sydney.

Same as in Adelaide mate! They're easy to make power out of, that's why. Yeh I'm on PA as well, been on there for a bit over two years.

Ah well just havta keep looking, pretty much asked the same stuff on pa.com with about the same answers. I've seen alot of bargin gear on ebay motors for the engine build, turbo stuff as well but I'm not very confident of its lets say "reliability".

for 260hp, u can use s2k injectors. 380 i think and would do up to 280is hp. dsm's, you'll have to wire up a resistor box. stick w/ stock flywheel. a reg t3/t4 57-60 trim w/a 63 ar exhaust will spool fairly quick - around 4k ish. you'll have to get a turbo timer for an oil cooled turbo. for manifolds, revhard and drag are both cast so they wont crack and clear a/c w/o any modification. you can also check out spoolinperformance for a manifold, dp, dt combo. thats the way i would go. if you can convert to obd1, than go w/ hondata or neptune if its available. s200 is good s300 is better. neptune is best. headwork is not necessary. imo headwork on a boosted h22 is more trouble than its worth.

Where in adelaide are you from? i used to own ( 1/3 partners) AUTOBARN mile End 3-4years back but moved to Melbourne to setup shop etc...

i attached a few pics of the budget turbo setup i did for a customer, lot of work as the only bolt on part was the manifold and turbo (soon to be replaced) It's been a bit wierd as im actually doing it for another workshop so have not been able to talk over the job with the customer which i would much rather be doing.

it runs a emanage Ultimate which gives great control over the honda ecu. At the moment i have run out of injector duty so it is limited to 6000rpm and 120fwkw but cause it is auto it is actually quite quick as the stall always has it on boost. Once it has injectors in it i reckon a safe 150fwkw at 6-8psi through the auto and WAAAY more torque..

From Modbury, so about a half hour north east of Mile End.

That's a nice looking install, and a pretty killer set of cars by the workshop. Have you had any issues with the auto at all? I've never heard of an auto being boosted without blowing the thing to buggery.

The emanage has ignition retard on shift change which helps prolong box life.

i used to have a girlfriend out modbury way, just passed the old complete audio shop.

My best mate at the time also lived just north of there before heading into the hills, not sure if you've heard of D1GARAGE but james and i used to hit the hills most nights in these cars.... before the coppers chased us out and down south :)

honda manual tranny's are damn near bullet-proof. just throw an LSD in there and your set.
