turbo/no sc

well i just found out that putting a s.c. in my 4th gen would be hell. so now im back to turbo. i have roughly $4000 right now. should i build internals and wait for like 5 years for a turbo or should i get a turbo now and just run low boost. ive said it before but its my dd and i will be goin to college so i need it to be reliable. i know turbo and on a budget shouldnt be together but lol i have to make it work. i was lookin at the turbonetics kit for 4000 on turbokits.com. and yes i know i have to tune my ecu and labor costs will be even more. anyone that wants to get rid of their turbo system for relatively cheap would be great

man, it's hard to wait and wait and wait, but if you turbo now, that's just more stuff to take off when it's time to build that engine. If you build now, your motor will be setup for a turbo but it won't have one, and all that waiting puts miles on your car, by the time you buy the turbo, your new engine parts might have 20,000 miles on them. I would suggest to either turbo it at low boost until it blows, then build, or to just wait and do it all at once. Also remember that you can't just drop forged components into an H-series motor, the sleeves are FRM ( Fiber reinforced metal). Forged pistons will literally shred your sleeves. So you have to drop in new sleeves, so add about 700 bucks to the total of your build.

unless he uses mahle gold series pistons
but yea, i agree with mostly everything you mentioned. the reason why my setup wasn't reliable was cuz i was a pure dumbass and cheaped out on a $30 feed line, which blew my oil pump, and siezed the engine. as long as you dont cut corners, you can have a reliable setup.

if you only have $4G's and not a dime more, i would recommend piecing together your own kit (instead of the turbonetics kit) for 2-3G's depending on where you shop/look, then use the extra money for all the miscellaneous ****, which REALLY adds up. like a custom downpipe, getting tuned, gaskets, flanges, couplers, etc etc.

just remember..... the last 3 lines of my sig.

ok so for sure if i run a turbo under 10 lbs on boost on stock internals its safe? and i actually havent figured the numbers on how much my engine build would be. i planned on sleeving it but i really havent looked into it that much. i will though if i get serious about it. and you have to remember im from small town nebraska so there arent too many turboed cars in the junkyard i can get stuff off of for cheap. i dont really even know where to start looking if i am going to build my own custom kit. sounds logical though i will probably do that when i start building a kit
