wastegate/boost gauge question

So I will be having stage 6 performance drill and put a fitting in my Turbo so I can run the line from my wastgate line to the compressor housing, my question is with my boost gauge should I run a T fitting from that line to the gauge or should I have them drill and install a seperate fitting for the gauge?

Re: wastegate/boost gauge question

Its not suggested to put more than one component off each vac/boost source.

If your vac source for the gauge is off the turbo, that's gonna tell you how much boost is comin outta the turbo, but not exactly how much boost the engine is seeing, cuz there's usually a 1-2psi pressure drop across an IC.

If you tee into a vac line that's right off the IM, that'll tell you exactly how much boost the engine is seeing.

Re: wastegate/boost gauge question

I see what ur sayn so for the gauge I should run it through the intake Mani. As for the wastgate through research iv done I heard its safer and more accurate to run the line to the Turbo. Is that right?

Re: wastegate/boost gauge question

Yup I prefer gauge to the IM.

And you wanna keep the wastegate vac line as short as possible to be as accurate as possible, and obviously of all things, you want the wastegate to be the most accurate. Most of the time to keep the WG line as short as possible, is to go straight off the comp housing.

That's how both my turbo 'lude setups were, and how my subby is.

lol nah I don't trust myself with that. I'm already gambling with the motor being bone sock. Hopefully everything will go good until I can build the block.

Re: wastegate/boost gauge question

lol, when you get your tune with the mbc installed specify to the tuner do not go over your desired psi (assume its 8psi), when he tunes it to the 8 psi your set-up can range from the spring rating of the waste gate (lets say 4psi is your spring rating) to the desired psi (8psi). so honestly its not a bad idea to run one. and if you over boost or run the mbc to high you'll hit boost cut simply bc your adjusting the manual boost controller higher than the tune designed for. hope that makes sense. so essentially if you get a tune for 8psi he can set it to spike at 10 psi so you do not lean out. hope this helps man and if someone wants to chime with any flase info i just gave please chime in.

and yes run your boost gauge to your IM. and wastegate to the compressor of turbo :)

also have a Hallmans (color: Black) Manual Boost Controller for sale man, basically new. PM if interested! My tuner said they are great and very accurate, and he tunes and reccomends them for all cars! mine did great but am now going boost by gear for my next set up. so do not need the Manual Boost Controller any more!hope i helped buddy! I really wouldn't reccomend going cheap/ebay Boost controllers man, but im sure you'll hear different opinions from every one thats just what i've seen in the turbo community and thts why i went Hallmans it really is a great boost controller!

Re: wastegate/boost gauge question

^^ You can do the same thing (setting boost cut 1-2psi above WG psi) with only a wastegate as well, no need for a MBC.
And it sounds like he doesn't trust himself/the temptation of having a MBC, so why risk it?

Re: wastegate/boost gauge question

exactly, i am a very competitive person so i already know if im running someone and a lose by a tad bit im going to be very temted of going best 2 out of 3 and you better believe that boost will be up the 2cd race lol. plus like i said before already taking plenty of risk with it being a stock motor and not all parts being well know quality brand, but i have tried to do as much research on this lil turbo kit that im putting together. using a lot of parts that my buddy's have used with success, and most of all i have a great feeling about mase engineering who will be doing the tune.

Re: wastegate/boost gauge question

$450. for most honda turbo setups he charges 450-500 for hondata tunning i believe. when it comes to mase you have to call, he will never email back. the guy is always out of town and very busy.
