GOOBY PLS HALP!



the manifold is resting right on the alternator heat shield what should i do here guys? if i get the alternator relocate bracket will it get me under the turbo?

The relocated alt would DEF be in the way, unless it moves the alt over to the drivers-side a coupla (~3-4) inches.
What does Bustr say?

I'd say get the manifold ceramic coated, than wrap it to prevent as much heat as possible soaking the alt.

bustr didnt get a chance to look at it yet with the turbo on. worst case he can make a bracket for me but we need to get it way under the turbo. having it move to the side would throw off the alignment of the pullys. oscar i dont wanna push start my car lol

Make a new bracket that extends the alternator out further. Use a D series (i think) alternator and be done with it...

They have the alternator in the back yes. Horrible location imo. The pulley is still on the same side, I believe it's smaller though.

Yeah i'm not sure if it's a D series i'm thinking about or not. I know there's a smaller one that you can mount in the front - be it reversed or not - but still smaller and would resolve this issue with a longer bracket

Hard to tell, but this may fit just below the turbo giving you the clearance you need. supposedly a d series alternator on a relocation bracket - it looks like that would still hit the turbo though...

why yes they do but what does that matter as long as it works ?? i have the same style bracket and mine has worked perfect and stayed tight for months now ..

ESP and Innovative also make different relocation brackets.


I would just be worried that it would still sit a little too high - we'll have to wait and have lobsta either take more pics or figure something out :P

I happen to not trust that method of tensioning, I know it works, I have experience with it when working on some civics, but I prefer a tensioner that uses a bolt. It's my preference thats all.

i do have to admit i trust a tensioner more but i promise it works fine and its worth it to get the alt in a better place .. all these companies are more worried about cost to manufacture / profit so there gonna do as little r n d as possible to make it function at as small a cost to them as possible .. they figure it worked on cars for almost 100 years without issue so its good enough and it does work so i cant fault them ..
