Progressive Setup question

Hey guys, I posted this over on Preludeonline and had no reponses, hopefully you guys here can help me out a bit more :P

I got a decent turbo kit setup and now I'm looking to put parts and work into the block before the kit goes on. (I'm looking to make a 300-350whp daily driver/summer car)

What I'm looking at now is Darton Dry Cast Iron Sleeves (not the wet ones, which are double the price. any know if these can handle 350 whp ?
EX: Click Here

As well as Wiseco Forged Pistons (8.5:1) with Eagle H Beam Rods (is 8.5:1 sufficient or should I opt for some 9:1 for a little more $ instead?)
EX:Click Here
*comes with pins, locks, etc*

And the extras:
Clevite Rod/Main/Thrust Bearing
Cometic MLS Headgasket
ARP Head Studs

---------------------------------------------

My question is, can I build the block, get it tuned and all get the turbo kit on and run the stock head (temporarily, maybe for 5-6 months) Safely ?

And am I missing anything that you guys can think of ?

Re: Progressive Setup question

Correctly installed and tuned, a sleeved block with forged pistons and rods can handle 350whp til the cows come home. Head work isn't NECESSARY for that power level, but will allow you to rev higher and potentially make more power.
But I would address the weak-point of the motor first (pistons) which is exactly what your doing. Than a bit later, build a spare head on the side and swap it over.

9:1 is perfectly safe, but I would talk to your tuner to see what CR he feels comfortable going with.

Re: Progressive Setup question

thanks a lot for the response !
I do however have a limited (but growing) knowledge of the lingo, what exactly do you mean by "CR" ?

EDIT: Compression ratio ? on the Rods you mean ?

Re: Progressive Setup question

Your stock head can hold up to 450-500hp
So build get your block, going boost you'll be safe at your HP goal.

I was wondering this also cause i'll be shooting for the same hp range. And also would a stock cam be okay with an upgraded valve train ( dual springs, titanium retainers etc.) or should I stick with stock valve train and cam?
