Re: Need help deciding to go turbo

How healthy is your engine? Good compression across all cylinders, no leakdown? How about your valve springs and other little things that people overlook? If you really want to go turbo, buy a engine from a junkyard and build that one...that way you can keep driving your car while you build the engine and fit it when you're ready.

If it has b---s or wheels, it is going to cost you.
It is not a good investment, but not everything in life is about turning a profit. Find out what makes you come alive and do that. The world has too many men that are geldings and are passionate about nothing. Be a stallion. Be a fierce passionate man. Never let the world emasculate you.
Good things are worth fighting for, or buying for that matter.

Re: Need help deciding to go turbo

Not for nothing, but if you find a car that came from the factory with a turbo, thinking a 2003-2004 wrx, a lancer ralliart, an RX-7, classic supra turbo, so on an so forth, your turbo build is that much easier. Usually cheaper and more rewarding.

If a factory turbo ride is not an option, a reliable build is in the ballpark of 5000.00. That includes, internal work, forged parts an excellent turbo, tune and some leftover loot for mistakes.

Honestly you need to start with a low mileage, and build that. The current block may be able to be rebuilt, but it's cheaper to start on a fresh block, and save the current motor as a DD. Cuts on the downtime too.

I heard a good quote the other month for the first time;

"If it fly's, floats, or fu*ks- its cheaper to rent one!"
