t2 turbo on a 5th gen prelude

just wandering if a t2 turbo can be installed on a prelude.if it is possible, would there be any power gain or loss? i would imagine there wouldn't be any clearence issues for installation. thank you in advance for any input.

Re: t2 turbo on a 5th gen prelude

hahahaha t3 turbo's are argueably too small for an H22, so i would imagine t2's would do more harm than good.

Re: t2 turbo on a 5th gen prelude

more harm than good

they're so small that you would hafta crank the boost up to like 15psi to even see MAYBE 230-240whp, and at that pressure your doing little more than shoving hot air into the cylinders, which is just asking for trouble.

Re: t2 turbo on a 5th gen prelude

thank you.i did read on turbo's.however i didn't comprehend what i was reading.btw,i own an automatic and i have read on this forum how one shouldn't turbo an auto.to be honest,i am not looking for 100 extra hp. 20hp would be ok,i do not see myself forking 3,000 dollars for 20hp.

You want 20hp don't go with boost, start looking into N/A and I am sure you could see 20hp from skunk2 tuner stage 1 cams and a good tune :)

But get away from your auto!

Heck screw the cams, you can see about 20whp just with a 5spd swap.

Re: t2 turbo on a 5th gen prelude

ya, if you want more whp for cheap. 5 speed speed swap. IIRC, someone dynoed before and after. before they had like 130ish whp. and after they were 180 or higher, i forget, but it was definitely a dramatic increase. and turboing an auto isnt bad, its just our autos are bad. they fail by themselves with the power they see, just imagine a turbo...

Re: t2 turbo on a 5th gen prelude

Just get a good header, exhaust, legit intake and a throttle body. And then get it tuned ull easily get 20 out of that if u buy quality parts

^This. A 5 speed swap takes a lot of time and money, and while it will be awesome and less money than to rebuild the auto tranny(if it were to go out), your car will also be MIA from the road for a little while. So, I would definitely recommend exactly what 01 said. Don't let anyone hate on you, btw, because you have an auto. A prelude is a prelude. No matter what the transmission
