crome free/ uberdata

hi all
im at a stage now where i really want to tune my car, at the moment its running on a pherable base map. i would like to buy the tuning equipment needed to tune and burn chips myself, however i have never tuned a engine before but as i have done everything else my self id quite like to finish it off by tuning it too. so what im asking is are these free tuning softwares easy enough to use and understand, also which is better to begin with. is there any links to like a tuning guide that may help?
look usually ive found as have many others that this forum usually slams you for asking questions even tho i thought a forum is the exact place to ask questions, so im not some noob who doesnt know the difference between a turbo and a supercharger im merely a guy who has a passion for working on cars him self rather than just flashing the cash for someone else to do all the hard work that just needs a little advice

Re: crome free/ uberdata

i know this is to start understanding the basics of ECU's, and i think it goes over chipping/tuning too.

Redirection

i've always done absolutely EVERYTHING to my cars as well, engine swaps, turbo's, suspension, etc....
but when it comes to the importance of tuning.... i leave that up to the pro's. there's just so much info to comprehend, it was too overwhelming for me.

i agree. there are just too many things to be measured and taken in count when properly tuning an engine. the pros have all the expensive tools with the knowledge to use them... so when dealing with something important like engine tuning, which will determine the reliability and power output of your car, its best left to someone who does it for a living. sorry to burst your bubble though

This is true but there is someone who has tuned his own turbo vehicle, it can be done you just need to do a lot of research before you start.

Here I read this whole thread and it has some really good information and I suggest you read the whole thing before you start thinking about tuning your car. Beginners journey: Intro to Tuning - INDEXED!!! - Honda Prelude Forum : Honda Prelude Forums

Tell me if you decide to do this because it is really exciting and I am thinking about wanting to tune my own vehicle in the future, it is a really cool skill.
