Opinions Plz

Ok so i had some lambo hinges on craigslist that i was tryin to get rid of. Listed em for 300. Guy calls and offers me a brand new t04e turbo and super sequential bov. I go check the stuff out n decide to make the trade. Now keep in mind in theory i only paid 100 for all this bc thats what i paid for the hinges. i kno it an off brand turbo. box said sport jdm (advancejdmparts.com) but i figure for the price i really coldnt beat it. i wanted some opinions. Theres no shaft play at all. The blades are free spinning with no grinding or anything. and all the fan blades are in great condition. should i keep it n use it or sell it? ill be runnin it on an h22a. waitin for income tax for my motor. heres some pics. thanx for ur opinions in advance

Re: Opinions Plz

i kinda figured that. im new to boost. been doin a good bit of research on it tho. im just curious as to whether or not i should run it? i kno a lot of the turbos all have the same internal parts as the good brands but the seals and stuff go bad on the off brands. if i got a rebuild kit would that make it a little better?

Re: Opinions Plz

You can sell it and make some cash money.

Some people have luck running ebay turbos, but most fail.

I say throw it on and run super high boost for craps and giggles jk jk.

Re: Opinions Plz

Yeah, I would recommend selling it. Turbo systems are simple (Use exhaust to push a turbine which forces air into the engine) but there are tons of little parts in the system that can fail so you want to make sure that if you do run a turbo system that all the parts work well with each other and are reliable. I've done a few turbo and super charger builds and some work out perfectly and some have issues and require a lot of work. Most of that depends on the quality of the kit or individual parts.

Re: Opinions Plz

I would just run it.. you already have it. Only thing i would recomend would make sure that you prime it really well (run oil down in turbo and making sure the bearing are wet.. possibly use gear oil to make 100% its sure) I know people who have run an 120$ ebay turbo for years with no issues.. but they are sensitive.. if you dont prime them you will prob end up loseing more than your turbo when it kicks intake housing metal shavings into your intercooler/motor (have seen it before.. bearings die and has so much play that it litterally shaves the intake walls) but if done right shouldnt be an issue.

Re: Opinions Plz

i mean yea, the success ratio w/ those ebay turbos is about 50/50, so its up to you if you feel confident enough to risk your engine with that ratio.
i ran my ebay turbo for 5,000 miles w/o any problems, and luckily the engine blew up before the turbo did, then i sold the turbo for $150 (the same amount i bought another running engine for).
some people are fine for tens of thousands of miles, others come apart on first start-up. i've heard of stories where the compressor housing was literally glued together, has shaft play when its brand new, doesn't have the lock nut on the shaft, etc....

don't forget you'll also need; manifold, downpipe, wastegate, dumptube, IC, piping, couplers and clamps, ecu, injectors, fuel pump, gauges, oil/coolant lines, and get'r tunedddd
