Boostin' Prelude Setup opinion

Hey all :D

I know i'm new here but i wish you could help me out.

I need to boost my H22 4th gen lude, for semi-Daily driver on Low boost and Street or Track race on High Boost, i have read all the setups but nothing near my setup and i need your opinion on it,

Here it goes:

1- Built bottom:

Darton 87mm sleeves, closed deck

MicroPolished Crank shaft

Eagle rods

Arias or CP Pistons (8.5:1 or 9.1:1)

2- Head Work: P&P only

3- Turbo setup:

Borg Warner S372 with 1.10 or 1.06 A/R

Manifold - Between Love-Fab Exacliber, PeakBoost Ram-Horn, and Top Mount (ofcourse Twinscroll)

WG - Tial 44mm or 38mm

BOV - undecided

Intercooler - Thinking between HKS Skyline Intercooler (Custom Fit) or something similar (you can say undecided)

3" Downpipe with 3" Exhaust System (Custom)

4- ECU: P28 with Hondata S300

5- Exterior

Black Metallic Paint

Hiro Front Bumper (will be customized for the intercooler)

Custom side skirts and rear bumper with 5 inch Lip trunk spoiler.

6- Interior

Half Gutted interior (rear seats, rear seat support and trunk items and carpets removed)

Recaro Seats

OEM Shift knob

Short Shifter

Race steering wheel with Swede leather

7- Electronics

RaceTech Gauges (Boost, Oil/Water temp, EGT, Volts, Speedometer and RPM since i'm going to replace the Gauge cluster)

Blitz turbo timer

Greddy Boost Control

Twin Boost control Switch (to switch between Low and High boost WHILE Racing)

Well that's the Future setup you just read, now the current mods are:

H22A Swap with P13

P2U5 Tranny (Accord), in my country we race longer than 1/4 mile but will change Gear ratios eventually

17" light-weight wheels (Custom)

Red Metallic Paint

Everything else is OEM so far

Anyways, i hope you don't hate me for writing a F/I post but really needed your opinion

Thanks guys,

Re: Boostin' Prelude Setup opinion

what about the crank rod and main bearings oil pump and kaizen speed balancer shaft eliminator kit.
i would start with focousing on just getting the engine built stout and go from there.
for the equipment your planing here your looking at thousands....

also do you have any plans for who is going to tune the hondata?
dyno near bye?

Re: Boostin' Prelude Setup opinion

Kronicus:

Well now you have mentioned it, i didn't think about those, i'll start researching about that, and the funds, don't worry about it, i have about 10k for the turbo setup (getting the pieces together first the installing)

About the Dyno, i am thinking to do it myself since we don't have a good tuner, and the only good tuner is my rival :P

B18 Civic

He did everything by himself, so do i with a H22, all his tuning and setups are done on B20 (LS/VTEC) B18, and B16.

The thing that i found out that all the boostin' is done in the US but the tuning is done by him, i wanna do better than he does, he thinks that H22 are heavy and can't be tuned well, same thing with the preludes and accords, just wanna break his jaw when he sees my ride :D

Re: Boostin' Prelude Setup opinion

what about your cams, valves, valve springs, injectors, fuel pump......i would start by going into the forced induction section and read everything in there sorry, not trying to sound like a jerk but i researched for almost 3 months and u need to look at other peoples setups and have a more logical approach as far as having a better list setup.....i don't have the funds for my turbo project yet but after i priced everything inlcuding engine work, turbo parts, and labor i was a little closer to the $14,000 dollar mark and i don't have that type of fun money on hand right now, and none of that included any of the overpriced interior parts you mentioned like recaro seats,lol.....so recheck the other thread in the forced induction section and read everything then you will have a better idea on what is realistic and what is not and thats if you actually wished to get anywhere near the speed and power your friend is pushing in his much lighter civic chassis. i also don't see any lsd in there and you want to think about that when you want to get out of the traps,oh yeah and better axles too especially if your thinking of doing anything over the 600hp mark,lol.....sorry not trying to burst your bubble.....you just need better direction.

92siH22A1:

Thank you very much for your reply, and yes, i have chosen Walbro pump and Bosch 1000CC or 1600cc injectors, for Head work P&P would be sufficient enough as other serious track racers did mention in other forums, And for the axles, i would go for CF ones (forgot the company name) which is much lighter than the OEMs.

And again, you didn't burst my bubble but you have cleared the way for me :D

Re: Boostin' Prelude Setup opinion

I also might add, AEM Fuel Rail but here's my question:

Some people say that i should not go for Hondata S300, they say i should go for MoTeC M4 which is pretty expensive for an amateur like me plus it has way much better features than the Hondata.

Any comments ?

stock cams are good for ~800hp. a PnP will suffice.

to the OP... the S372 is a big, biggggggggg turbo, for 6-800hp. two examples;

Re: Boostin' Prelude Setup opinion

twokexlv6coupe :

I am a big fan of yours dude, love your posts :D

Yes, i do acknowledge that the S372 is a big turbo, that's why i might do more Hp later on without changing turbos, further more, i think it is the best compact vehicle turbo (i think) for the H22, which is the largest turbo i've seen on a Honda, i think the T42s are the equivalents for the S372.

Plus, i know it doesn't mean anything but i need a turbo which would handle this part :

Turboxs Dual Stage Boost Controller

If i was racin' anything more the low boost, i can switch boosts WHILE on Full Boost of the Low Boost :D

In other words, switching between Low and High Boost while driving.

Re: Boostin' Prelude Setup opinion

well its sounds like you have somewhat of an idea of what your gettin into.. atleast parts wise. but really think you need to do some more research and build the car for your self, nt just because you dont like a guy and want to top something he has already done(and sounds like has been doin for awhile now).

and that dual stage boost controller is pretty cool, but you dont need the BIGGEESSTTT turbo you can possibly run just to use that... just sayin

So how did the Centerforce clutch do on a turbo setup?

From reviews I've read seemed like the weakest link in your setup.
