wish to learn how to fine tune...help...

okay my ecu is chipped and is basemapped to where it'll run. but i know i need it fine tuned b/c i'm running really rich. i want to learn how to finetune my ecu. i know there are many different ways but is there a way i could start? i purchased a book how to tunr and modify engine management systems from motorbooks workshop so i could start out. but i'm completely lost on where to proceed and start? and how i could do more research... any guidance would be much appreciated. thanx

hey man. read up on whatever system you have to get familiar. Then most people start with the fuel basemap. then the ignition timing map... after that you can go do all the correction maps like start up, throttle positioning corrections etc. Im assuming your system has these features. hope this helps.

I know i've been tryin to learn it as well. **** got nothing better to while i'm stuck in iraq, but ya you can download Crome for free. i know thats what i did. its not as good and has some glitches in is compared to the programs like hondata, neptune or ectune. but so far it seems pretty straight forward.

one thing you do also(which i did) is make friends with a tuner. and see if he'll help teach you it, alot of tuners dont mind.

also www.Xenocron.com this guy is one of the best tuners in the country. with out a doubt. and if your really wanting to get into tuning cars yourself, you might wanna look around on his website. or pick this up http://www.xenocron.com/dyno-tuning-...age-p-237.html

and this website has a TON of info, helped me out with alot. www.bbmoto.net/wiki *thanks 98vtec*

Your best bet is get A standalone ECU. Alot of tuners use Hondata being that is not that hard to tune plus you can always find a familiar map for any set-up. I got one for my H23 DOHC VTEC bluetop and it works great.

Lets just say the motor is a BEAST mated to M2B4 Tranny. Both HP and Torque is always there and it took a while to get that Motor either places didn't have it or it was overpriced but I go a hella deal!!! Thanks
