turbo and nos?

Ok this fall i will be buying my first lude!!!!!! I have been saving. I am going to run it stock back and forth to work. Im going to buy another engine and put it on a stand in my garge and build it up and sawp them when im ready. I want to do a build to get massive power. So my plan is to Get new forged pistons rings and rods(eagle). head work (planning on all skunk2) and new intake manifold(skunk 2) , cams (skunk2 stage 2 turbo cam) cam gear(skunk2). I wanted to go N/A but i want to turn heads. So im gona go turbo. I still have alot of research on which turbo or turbo kit im going to get. But i also want to get a shot of NOS. So if I Build my motor with what i listed and run a turbo at 10 lbs of boost and a 50 shot of NOS will i blow my block apart? Can the h22a block handle it?

Re: turbo and nos?

if its built and tuned to handle it, there should be no problems.

Re: turbo and nos?

I'm not too knowledgeable on turbo setups, however 10lbs of boost on a built motor sounds extremely conservative. I would imagine you would have no problems with the setup, however I'm no expert in the ways of turbo or N20 so I'd wait for one of educated ones on the subject.

Re: turbo and nos?

Why do you wanna go skunk2? Why not Crower? I always hear people talk about skunk2 yet Crower seems a little more reliable?

<--- Heres the point were my boost addicted buddy chimes in with an answer for me.

i havent really heard good things about crower cams. actually nothing really good.i have seen a few threads on honda tech abou the cames eating the rocker arms up... s2p2 make better power for NA builds but from what ive seen turno cams are not worth the money for high boost motors...at least for our motors...

im just saying that a member on here is making over 600 on stock cams

i would save my money on cams and use it toward other stuff...such as a massive pnp.. with quality springs, retainers, and valves.

Re: turbo and nos?

With the internals that you'll be running, you should have no trouble with 10 lbs and a 50 shot. You can run a 75 shot or 7 lbs on a stock motor. However, I wouldn't do that for too long. I can't remember what kinda shots work better for turbo applications, (dry vs wet) but my first instinct is to say dry. Make sure that you have a good spark plugs and run your timing retarded 1-2 degrees for the nos.

With the money that you'll be putting into this engine, go standalone. That way you can control everything and not worry about the piggybacks capabilities. Standalone >>>>> pigggy back.

Re: turbo and nos?

before you do anything, get the block sleeved.

whether or not 10 lbs of boost is conservative or not depends on the size of the turbo you are going to run!

Re: turbo and nos?

im only going with skunk2 because they seem to be very popular and have good customer service and all the products seem to have good reviews. And thanks for the insight. Is AEM a good stand alone? and the aritcals are awsome thanks.

Re: turbo and nos?

an off the shelf turbo kit won't net nearly as much hp as a custom one, cuz the kits always come with the bare-minimum, most conservative parts.
for instance a log manifold which are the cheapest, worst flowing manifolds.
or it'll come w/ a FMU, which is the cheapest, LEAST reliable (by farrr) form of engine management out there. i'm sorry, thats an OVERstatement saying its a form of EM, since it only controls the fuel (hence, the name)

i did a solid year of researching before buying a single turbo part. and i still blew up a motor hahaha. take that as you will.

Re: turbo and nos?

yeah i noticed that the kits i was looking at all came with small turbo. i also plan on buying a new throttle body for my build from skunk2. Is bigger better? should i just buy the 70mm?

Re: turbo and nos?

sleeving the block and putting in forged pistons is a must if ur going for big power.

Why go with nitrous, when you could just turn up the boost?
