Icon14 eBay Turbo on stock Honda Prelude SH

I have a 1998 Prelude SH, the only thing I have done so far is add a AEM cold air intake. I was wondering if I were to buy a turbo off ebay. and run it at say 6psi. Would I need to change some other parts right away? or Would I be okay with stock for awhile.

Read this, and stay away from ebay turbo kits...

http://preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=3880

Also, since I posted this in the other turbo thread (about buying a turbo kit) Maybe you should look into it also

http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1024174

All those threads are about turbo/superchargers. Read up.

Re: eBay Turbo on stock Honda Prelude SH

So in other words I could jsut buy a good turbo(for example the garret), and run it at like 6psi and still be fine on my stock motor?

Sorry I posted the wrong honda-tech thread. This is the one I meant to post.

http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=783372

You'll need to upgrade your fuel pump, injectors and a few other things. But if you want to make it last for awhile, read the thread I just posted ^^^^

Re: eBay Turbo on stock Honda Prelude SH

For the most part, 6psi on stock internals should be ok. Like Smokey said you'll need to upgrade fuel pump, injecters, etc.

Also you'll need to rethink tuning. Since you've got an SH, tuning options are limited, if you want to keep ATTS. An AFC Neo or GReddy Emanage is about your limit, a full aftermarket ECU will stop the ATTS from working.

Re: eBay Turbo on stock Honda Prelude SH

dont bother, if your going to go boost, turbo the car. your losing atts either way and you wont get a good tune with a piggy back system as you would with a standalone one.

my opinion boost the car with turbo and call it a day. build up your motor tho, if i were you id try to run at least 12-15 pounds. 6 and you'll be bored by tomorrow

Re: eBay Turbo on stock Honda Prelude SH

i think you need to do a lot more research before jumping into this. most people that ive seen just slap an "ebay turbo kit" or any kit for that matter without really understanding what has to be done blow their motors (crack their ringlands) within the first 48 hours.

Re: eBay Turbo on stock Honda Prelude SH

It's an SH

Please don't turbo it!

If you want to have a turbo Prelude then I say find another person with a good clean nice base 5th gen and trade with them or something.

I don't want to see another sh Prelude dissapear
