Re: is this a solid investment

Seems a bit cheap to me, so I'd be weary considering it says nothing about age, use, condition, etc., but I'll let one of the boost gurus chime in.

Re: is this a solid investment

The obvious one would be to look if the fins are bent or damaged, but I'm not a boost guy so I never spent much time learning about it.
twokexlv6coupe will be on at some point today and he'll give you a good reply if someone else doesn't before then.

I never had one but from what i hear it's a POS save your money. Google XS POWER turbos and see what ya come up with. Ill give ya a hint the first 2 links are to xspower websites and the rest are forms saying them a pos.
I found this one should really help you out.

Haha ya I am no boost expert but when I clicked the link, I thought that thing was off of a diesel truck. I think you need to do a bit more research before you try and start piecing together a turbo kit.

^^^ Neck that's funny haha. Yeah man...research for like 2 years and THEN decide if you want to build a turbo motor.

Re: is this a solid investment

Personal friend of mine had a very nasty expierence with this XS POWER. When he put the turbo on his car and tried to start it for the first time, some type of debris was in the compressor (possibly metal fragments) and bent all of the fins in the compressor. He didnt even get to pull his car out. Theres a reason why a turbo this big is only $300. Go to a website with precision or garrett turbos and see if you can get any turbos for $300. If you want a cheap reliable turbo then buy a heavily used garrett ($200-$300)with some shaft play then spend an extra $200 to have it rebuilt and BAM! theres your cheap but reliable turbo..

Re: is this a solid investment

if ur lookin for something relatively cheap try to find a used holset turbo from a turbo diesel and have it rebuilt. i kno wat ur thinkin... a 4-banger cant spool a turbo from a turbo diesel well ur wrong. a lot of 240sx guys are running them and now more honda/acura guys are using them too. check out this on honda-tech. just a lil something to think about...
