Re: SC kits for a 4th gen? Whats out there...

There are some made for the 5th gen h22 but they will not work with a 4th. I am not 100% sure but I think it is due to not being able to fit it in the engine bay, you would have to cut the fire wall.

I might have to get in touch with him for more information on how he crammed the supercharger in.

Re: SC kits for a 4th gen? Whats out there...

The problem fitting a JRSC in a 4th gen isn't the firewall, it's the shock tower. The belt would rub if you just drop it in. There used to be a bracket that would move the belt up and over with an idler pulley, but good luck finding one

not trying to start nothing here, but doesn't turbo'ing =more hp and more efficient?
isn't turbo>SC'ing?

Re: SC kits for a 4th gen? Whats out there...

I don't know if that's 100% true, but it kinda seems that way huh? If you don't want GODLY hp/tq numbers, but just a mild improvement, SC is the way to go. After talking to my Uncle, he told me that between a Turbocharged engine and a Supercharged engine running the same amount of boost, the turbocharger will put more stress on the engine than the supercharger would. Not sure on how true that actually is though. As far as I know for availability, Jackson Racing is the only company that I know of that makes a SC specifically for the H22, and quite a bit of modification of the engine bay/firewall is required to make it fit in a 4th gen.

Generally that is true but with a SC the power is instantly there unlike a turbo that you have to wait to spool up. Hence the term turbo lag.

Auto Xing I would rather have a SC where as if I was doing drag I would like a turbo.

Re: SC kits for a 4th gen? Whats out there...

Yeah like he said, you lose a little bottom end with a turbo, whereas with the supercharger, it's there for you all the time. Plus, superchargers sound ****in' awesome. But so do BoV's. Either way, boost is a good thing haha

that depends ENTIRELY on what size turbo it is. there's thousands out there that can be used on our cars, where there's maybe 2 diff types of SC's.

like i say to everyone else.... SC'ing a 4G isn't IMPOSSIBLE cuz it has clearly been done maybe a handful of times, but IMO it def isn't worth all the trouble and headaches, when you can see MUCH better results with the same amount of time and money invested into a turbo setup.

Re: SC kits for a 4th gen? Whats out there...

the thing i like about turbo better than SC is there's always room for improvement. with a SC you can go smaller puller to increase boost but thats about all. turbo you can crank up the boost, get a bigger turbo, different manifolds, bigger injectors
