Piston choices

Building an H22 block on the side, just got it sleeved so now I'm looking into some low comp pistons. I've head good things about Wiesco from Bustr, and I've read a lot of goodness about JE Pistons. Anyone know any other good choices or have opinions or advice?

Re: Piston choices

you should do some research and go with what you feel comfortable with.

i wouldn't take the advice from 1 or 2 ppl online, especially with something as important as CR of pistons

Re: Piston choices

What about going higher such as JDM Type S 11:1 compression? Could one run 9psi on that?

you COULD do that. mind you, if wanna try and boost on that high of CR then i would deffinitely go with forged pistons and rods. the higher CR you run, normally the less boost you can run, but also will make more power on the same amount of boost, compared to the lower CR. also with a higher CR you'll have better bottom end(ie out of boost).

i know a buddy of mine used to work at a shop by my house, and they had a EK Hatch, boosted running 14psi of boost on 11:1 CR. it was crazy, think IIRC they were running like a 60mm turbo(dunno exactly what one) and made almost 600 wheel horsepower.
only thing was the motor blew up after like 20k miles. lol

on the other end of things, another buddy of mine has a EK coupe, running 8:1 CR and that shit doesnt idle right, is pretty much gutless when he's not boosting. but once he hits boost(IIRC he's running 28lbs) it takes off like a fucking rocket sled. lol

Re: Piston choices

my build will take a while and ive been researching turboing the lude for almost 4 years, i know it would take alot of moneyand back then i just didnt have it. but now i do!
now from my research, it seems llike under boost 9.1 is the norm but there are extremes for everything, and 11.1 is just that.
