Changeing the boost setting on a 14b DSM turbo

I have 3 ideas... 1 may be right... or more than likely they will all be wrong.... So here we go... my 3 ideas as to how to change the boost on a 14b wastegate would be

1) buy somekind of aftermarket spring for it

2) get an aftermarket manual boost controller for a 1st gen DSM

3) Use a different wastegate... could this be done by buying an aftermarket 14b manifold? since I dont have a manifold yet I could do that

Thanks, let me know, if you know (Nick, this means you lol)

internally gated, means you can simply spin the nut to move the actuator arm in/out.

Re: Changeing the boost setting on a 14b DSM turbo

yup, a gauge.

i know with a MBC one full revolution is 1psi, so maybe, just MAYBEEEE one rev of the nut is 1psi, but i honestly have no idea. i've only used external gates. which is why i couldn't tell you whether in or out is more boost. time to start guess and checking
or do a lil research. whichever you see fit.

Re: Changeing the boost setting on a 14b DSM turbo

If the gate is completely closed then no boost escapes so none is "wasted". Completely open lets out the most % of boost. Just buy a MBC, they're easy as hell to install and you really need to know what boost you're running. Oh and the wastegate is in the turbo not the manifold. Some external wastegates are on the manifold. So if you want to run an external wastegate then you will need an aftermarket manifold ( i recommend HAFE but make sure you get the one with the flange for the external wastegate ) and you'll have to weld the old wastegate shut. By the way...i've spent this entire summer working on a Dsm. It's almost ready to go. IF you want pm me and i can tell you about it.
