Yeah, that's almost strut tower to strut tower! For those of you that clicked the link my speakers are 3 ohms. ~400w per channel!!

Got it in tonight and have some serious dialing in to do as with any front stage amp but so far it's rediculous!

So, I have for sometime delayed putting sound damping material on the roof and sunroof houing due to the fact that I pull headliners and do similar jobs at work....it sucks.....a lot. The headliner is usually the LAST thing that can come out of a car. Upon closer inspection.....it's one of the EASIEST things to remove in a 5th gen lude.

Trim around the door, C pillar trim, rearview mirror, sunroof trim peice.....that's it! Once the trim peices are out of the way gently slide the headliner forward about 3/4" of an inch and then down. Comes out really easily. I got 19 sq ft of Hushmat on the roof and pillars. Did the initial test of cranking up some T.I. and Lil Jon and my annoying rattles were gone. I did put a single sheet on the cardboard headliner itself and that did a lot. I also removed the sunroof "sliding shade" I suppose you would call it. Not only does it not rattle anymore but looks much better with out it as well.

Sorry guys, no pics. The rain was rolling in and I have a really hard time stopping to take pics. I get to working and just go.

I will get you some pics in a couple weeks though....Ill have the headliner out again for a yet to be disclosed reason *sneeze * "Suede" oh excuse me.

I'm going through the same hole as the wire loom with a coat hanger, going through the door hinge, but It doesn't seem like it comes out! I can push until a certain point, but then it just stops, and I look under my dash, and can't seem to find it :( Has anyone done this in their 4th gen? If so, can you give me some tips? Once I figure it out, I'll definitely take pics for everyone, just to help out with a DIY, like the one I saw for a 5th gen.

So I just ordered a 4AWG wiring kit for the 4-channel amplifier I'm going to put in my trunk. I want to run the power wire down the passenger side and the RCA cables either down the center console or down the drivers side (with the speaker wire). I've been doing some research on installation for the last few days, but I'm still left with some questions, so here it goes:

1. How in the world do you get 4AWG power wire through the firewall grommet behind the fuse box? I tried popping it out and it really won't budge.

2. I removed the door runners and pulled back the carpet to expose where the power cable can be run along the door... but after the end of the door I'm clueless. Should I take out the back seats?

3. Is there anyway for the RCA cables to be run down the center console and to the trunk without being visible at all?

This idea is from lilmsprelude's diy on electronics and audio on how to install door speakers that don't fit correctly in the door.

This is on my integra though, sorry no hot lude pics 'yet'...
I didn't really want to cut the factory wire harness and drill a bunch of new holes in the door so I thought this would be an excellent alternative:

sorry the pics are a little small I don't know how to resize them on here, you can click on them though to make them bigger

First I got these cutting boards from work when we were about to throw them out (free)
Attachment 5884

then I used the plastic speaker holder from the old speaker to trace somewhat of an outline for the size i wanted and this foam speaker back thing that I had layin around (I knew it would come in handy) for the circle in the middle.
Attachment 5885

Cut out the wholes and the templates with a jigsaw($30 cause I couldn't find one any other way), I know my cuts look like crap but I trimmed them up a bit before I installed them
Attachment 5886

Took the door panel off
Attachment 5889

Sorry, this is kind of a bad pic but I had to disconnect the wire harness to the door(the white thing) and drill a hole in the side of the door to get the wire through then fed the new speaker wire through the rubber sleeve and into the car. (this was the hard part :frusty:) Even though this part sucked it was worth it because it hides the speaker wire completely.
Attachment 5887

Then I weather proof siliconed($5) the template onto the car and attached the connectors($6) to the 12awg speaker wire(free, already had some).
Attachment 5888

The connectors and my grubby fingers
I know I could have went with better quality connectors but come on, they have cutting boards where I work lol.
Attachment 5890

And last but not least 6" infinity co-ax speakers that I already had so..(free)
much better than my blown stock speakers that were there.
Attachment 5891

thanks again lilmsprelude

sooo I got a new more powerful amp for my ten inch sub about 2 weeks ago because the old amp just wasn't doing the trick. I hooked up my new amp and it blew me away, so much more power. After testing out its capabilities a turned it down very low until I gave it a proper tune, I'm talking so low I couldn't even tell if it was on or not.

about a week later i went to check on it and the power cable was disconnected and completely fried. the plastic had melted on the end and the wire is black about an inch into the wire. Just want to know if this has happened to anyone and if they know whats up? what caused it? how to fix etc? cheers
