Fabric on dashboard

Alright guys, I'm gonna need some help on this. Lately I've been getting really annoyed by the rather bright reflection on my windshield of the top of my dash. So what I'm planning on doing is covering it with some type of black velvet or suede or something similar that wont reflect any light, plus I think it'll really add to the appearance of my dash.
What I need help with is firstly, how do I take off the top part of the dash to do it, and secondly what do I need to do to apply the fabric to it. I'll get a pic up and show you what I'm talking about.

It's not an individual piece. It only has indentions from the factory mold. It can be done but you would have to take out the whole dash and trim around those indentions. I'm sure you could find a dash mat that would cover most of it though. To cover pieces in my ride I use 3M adhesive spray. The next re-cover job I'll do is the headliner in suede.

Thanx bro, so you cant take it out then right, like its actually connected to the car? Anywho I could go with a dash mat, but Im interested in doing things myself. Its all a part of my learning process, I'm very hands on. Oh yeah so the 3m spray will adhere the velvet/suede/whatever to the leather well? I might run up to Michaels and get some.

The new maximas have that part done in a suede like material i think it would look hot aslong as it doesn't fade. Can't wait to see it

My mat is a (faded) black suede which is great at "NOT" reflecting sunlight and it's being held down by double sided tape at the corners. I drive with the window down all the time and have never had any trouble with it. Unfortunately, it was in there when I bought the car but it looks like it was atleast 5 pieces sewn together so well, it looks factory. I'm sure there's easier ways to get one made without having to pull your dash off.

Re: Fabric on dashboard

Ya but no matter what its going to fade on the dash... may serve its purpose but in the long run it will look bad..personal opinion but still

Re: Fabric on dashboard

I would get one of these and if you can't find a color you want paint it or cover it and place it in that way it would fit better.
