rolling back analog odometer.

Im trying to roll back my odometer. Can someone exlpian how to do it without breaking anything? The reason is because my old gauge cluster stopped working and I got a new one. Instead of trying to keep track of the difference in odometers I would like my "new" one to match the current miles on my car. Im not trying to get around any type of law and I understand that rolling bak the miles under the total miles is illegal. That's not what i'm trying to do. Iv'e searched and all i see is people telling the OP that its iligel and they can just get a sticker from the DMV and anything other that answering the question at hand. Thank you

Re: rolling back analog odometer.

Once you take the gauge apart carefully the odo is able to be manipulated when all separated, or just use your old one.
And for those with a want of a waaaambulance about the illegality of it obviously haven't had a situation like yours, I have however haha. Good luck to ya

I'd rather lose by a mile because I built my own car than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Re: rolling back analog odometer.

Bottom line is sometimes unscruplous folks use internet posts to learn how to jimmy stuff on cars to gain resale value.
We don't want to help those folks, now do we?

Some of us know how since we replaced the cluster and would prefer it to indicate the correct miles on our car. However we don't discuss those methods on an open forum for security reasons. It's an unwritten gentlemen's agreement and is why you probably can't find discernible answers using internet searches.
