Wiring in door lights??

I just bought a (4th gen) jdm interior, everything except the dash and front seats. (I wanna use it to practise a bit if re-triming and try some ideas out) The door cards have the little corner lights (clear not red) in them. Are the harnesses already in my doors for these? I know a lot if the wiring for the "extras" are already in the car. But are these?

Thanks

Stevie

Re: Wiring in door lights??

no. your USDM Prelude is not pre-wired for courtesy lights. But they are easily wired with a simple fuse and 12v feed.

Re: Wiring in door lights??

Im in the UK, so my car is EDM, but RHD. Sorry, should have mentioned that! I guess that doesn't change much though! I'll have to pull the door panels off and check everything out.

cheers

Stevie

Re: Wiring in door lights??

keep us updated on this. I think some EDM ludes might be pre-wired for courtesy lights. I don't know about UKDM tho, it's slightly different than EDM.

Re: Wiring in door lights??

I'm inclined to believe that it's there, based on the fact that Honda seem to only make one wiring harness for the car and just plug in what's required. In most cases even the LHD/RHD harnesses aren't any different, just one is upside down.

Re: Wiring in door lights??

you truly ONLY need to pull one wire into the door through the stock loom. If it isn't already there.....have you D/l the manual yet to see what options it has? And what color the wire is ....????
If it isn't there, I BET you dimes to dollars there is a spot in the harness for it.... all the other wiring can be done in the foot well.

Re: Wiring in door lights??

I pull the door panels off this weekend and have a look. Iwas just hoping some one could tell me "YES" or "NO", before I launch into the job.

I know Honda are really "good" at having all the wiring in place. In my old EG civic it had the wiring for the rear speakers in place, even though we never had rear speakers as an option on the EG5 in the UK.

In the 1960's some of there cars actually had 2 wiring looms in, one down each side for the different LHD and RHD markets!

Re: Wiring in door lights??

Weeeellll I can confirm that UK 'ludes DO NOT have the wiring for courtesy lights. Bugger!! Now I need to try and find the harnesess for them. The lights have a connector that is exactly the same as the one that connects to window motors so just running a wire isn't really gonna do it. I'm going to read my manual and look at the wiring diagrams to see where it plugs into the main loom.
Not only could I not fit my new lights, but, my perfect door card fell over and scraped on the pebble dashing on the wall of my house, the vinyl is now ripped.

Re: Wiring in door lights??

this is easy to do, im in the process of doing it now. but i had to install them into the door panels too. you already have constant power in your doors (well the driver side, the passenger side i don't think so unless you have power folding mirrors) i do, so you just need to run the ground wire through the door. run it to the door switch. its the only wire right behind the seats behind the side panels by the seat belts. tap into that and they will work. the ground will connect when the door is open making the light light up!..

i will try and get some pictures..

Re: Wiring in door lights??

writeup please:)
I've already cut the plastic panels (both Dr & Ps) on my lude. Actually there's a marking line for these courtesy light already (at least on my 1996 USDM VTEC) also for the rear bumper EDM fog(s) they are template markings for right and left - I did the latter on my lude last year.
Anyhow, I would check my door harness for some free-hanging 2-pc wire/connector perhaps it's there as per Brash's comment.
