ignition lock cylinder question - noob

any know if there is a way to get the ignition lock cylinder out without the key? i know how to get it out with the key, and how to remove the steering wheel to get the steering wheel lock off. i just want to know if i can save the housing piece. the previous owner broke the key off then tried prying the cylinder out or something.

Fisrt: Welcome to PZ.

Second: I have no idea how I would go about doing what you need done.

And third: I really don't think people are going to/ should help you out with this man. Sorry you have 1 post and are basically asking how to break into a lude. maybe those aren't your intentions but still. My best advice would be to take it/ tow it to a reputable shop and get them to do the work. May have to spend some extra coin but I'm not sure how much assistance we can be to you here.

hrmmm...I really don't know if that's salvageable. that looks fubar'd for real... If it were me personally I'd just replace the whole lock cylinder. Save a little time and frustration TBH...

Since I didn't really help you, we'll just consider this a free bump lol

Can't say this is something I have heard of before. It depends to the damage. I would suggest sending it to your dealer to check if it can save your housing piece.

Re: ignition lock cylinder question - noob

I am having the same problem with my prelude. I think the tumblers in the ignition lock are seized up and the key wont turn.
Instead of having to remove the entire ignition assembly i thought there might be an easier way to get the ignition lock out without the key because they key needs to be in the 'on' position to be able to move the retainer pin.
Any suggestions?

Re: ignition lock cylinder question - noob

I actually just had this same problem, my ignition was stuck on III with no key. I just pulled the whole ignition by taking off the two bolts on top of the steering column, and then brought the ignition to a locksmith and he rekeyed it for like $40. Just had to take a dremel and and cut lines in the bolts and unscrewed them, though you could use a center punch and a hammer to loosen them as well.
