question about radar detector

I just got a radar from my friend and cant figure out who makes it. All it says is phantom on the top in cursive type writing and is pretty square, not any round edges like the new ones. ive looked online and found rocky mountain radar who makes the phantom that is new and looks nothing like mine. I am going to napa tomorrow to get a power adapter, thats where my friend got his from. but if anyone has any information or websites on this radar that would be awesome. ill continue looking though.

Re: question about radar detector

well if it doesn't work hes giving me back the 20 dollars i paid for it and i'd be able to return the cord up to probably 30 days so im not that concerned about it not living up to expectations.

Re: question about radar detector

I have one and in town its worthless and picks up everything so you never know if it's a cop.... But on road trips and on highways the thing is amazing.... calls out every single cop that has his radar on always its awesome

Re: question about radar detector

if you use it wisely and don't completely rely on it, it can help you out. the city is annoying with one though as you pick up a ton of false alerts, highway is useful though

Re: question about radar detector

well yeah its not good to rely on but they are so worth the money... if it saves you from one speeding ticket it paid for itself... lots of times on road trips i like to just cruise 10 over then all of a sudden it goes off freaking out so i slow down and what do ya know a speed trap sitting there, or an undercover charger sittin under the bridge.... both of which happened just this weekend.

mine will pick up heavy alarms systems! while driving pass banks, office buildings. but it does work well on highways and also was beeping when i passed this box, which they just put down the rubber line. the ones that monitor speed so they can see if its an area they should patrol more

When I had mine, I generally just drove 10 over, enough to make some cops pull you over but not all. I wasn't going 30+. People don't realize that their technology is always going to be a step ahead of ours. We might have **** that detects their **** for a while, but soon enough, they'll top it.
Oh and if you do get pulled over and you have one, count on a ticket for whatever they can find. You don't have to be speeding for them to pull you over.

Re: question about radar detector

i know in a few states its illegal to have a radar detector, thankfully not in jersey. i know my radar detector has gotten me out of a bunch of tickets, but i normally only go no more then 20 over the speed limits (most of the time its only 5-10 over). from what ive been told, as long as your radar detector isnt hardwired into your car in legal states you wont get fined. just becareful either way with it

Re: question about radar detector

yeaaa i just got twoo speeding tickets in a week and flew past highway patrol lastnite but i got luckyyy n they didn't come after me ha. im a little bit of an adrenaline junkee and get bored sumtimes driving so im def considering getting a radar. yall say it doesnt work in the city,i think i have a ridiculous eye for cops in the city i just cant predict where those damn highway patrol are gonna be. i mean i have noticed where their good hiding spots are but there is 2many out here in cali and about a dozen highways. SOOO can anyone point me in the direction of maybe a radar forum or a legit brand i want to start research.

p.s. dnt tell me 2 drive slow, ha if i wanted to go slow i wouldve kept my 83 accord n not gotten this sexy lude

Re: question about radar detector

it realy just depends on where u live and the area u drive thru most. some areas in some counties are more patrolled than others.
