Racing stripes?

Hey everyone,

Not sure why, but from what I've read it seems most people don't think racing stripes look good on the prelude. Well I thought I'd challenge that! I used Armor All Custom Shield for these, but may look at getting it done for real down the road. Personally, I like the look a lot (which is all that really matters lol), but I was curious why anyone would think that they look bad.
What do you think?

Re: Racing stripes?

Eh, it's your car.

Now how about this...
Color change paint. Do black bottom coat with a color change coat that matches the rest of the car.
Stripes appear in hot weather, but disappear in cold weather.

Hey that sounds pretty cool! I live in Alaska so the stripes would only be around for a few months lol but I've never heard of color change paint!

Re: Racing stripes?

I don't like the look either, but that is very irrelevant. Find something that you like and stick to it!

Everybody has an opinion, but they only go as far as you let them.

Re: Racing stripes?

I was thinking of doing color change satin shine platinum black stripes on my black 97 prelude but changed my mind.

Google search it. I forget the manufacturer. But basically when it gets warm it turns 'clear' from what ever color it was showing what ever color was painted below the color change paint. It's pretty expensive (read $350/gal) but a quart would get it done.
Btw, I think it looks pretty cool on your car.

Hot wheels cars had that on several models in the 80's. You dipped 'em in hot water and they changed from say pale green to say purple.

I like 'em. If my Prelude had been white, it would have grown a set of blue stripes.

Re: Racing stripes?

Thats the wrong stripe(s) for your prelude. They should follow some contours on the car, whether on the top or the side(s). Those "look" thrown on. I love stripes on my cars, #80'S KID, but it gotta look like it came from the factory that way.

One offside stripe over the passenger side maybe?

^^ very cool Chris.

I saw a shiney black mustang the other day with same color but dull stripes. Thought of this thread.
