Is my hood to rusted to paint? pics

Hey guys i lost my license for 18 months, let my brother use prelude while i couldnt and about a 6 months later he got into an accident and he bought my a new stock hood primer black. It sat in my driveway for about a year through rain sun a little snow (phildelphia, pa). I did not even cover it from the water and snow smh. so i am trying to determine if the hood is rusted to the point were i need to do sandind. I do not know what kind of sandpaper i would need to effectibely sand the hood. as u can see i tried paiting the hood a little bit in sections where it was a little rusted yesterday to see how it would look. thanks guys i am a complete noob but i want to be able to do this my self. thanks guys

Start with some 80 grit sand it to bare metal clean it and re prime. Then spray it what ever color you want.

What he said exactly, you will be fine, just need to sand it down to bare metal, be careful of the body lines to not sand them down to much out of shape you can get a cheap sander from harbor freight start with 80 grit like said move up to around 200, prime, guide coat, block sand with 240, until completely smooth wipe down with 3939 it's a chemical search it, that's to check smoothness. Then sand with 320 on your cheap da. Then 400, wipe down with 3939, then wipe with 3901 then spray whatever paint you please. Spray paint is fine. Then when coats are done wet sand dirt spots by hand with 1500 then 2000 then 2500

Take swirls out with a wool pad and rough compound, then polish.

Polishing takes 3 steps which means 3 different pads and compounds. They are color coded and obviously the least abrasive goes last. Good luck with this once done post some pics, and it should look professional even if done outside and with spray paint. You will just have more dirt to sand out....

Remember to clear coat too

Lmk if you need any more help
