Smashed my polyurethane front lip, can it be fixed?

So on my way to work tonight a cat ran out in front of me, did my best to avoid it but I still smoked it with the front corner, which cracked my brand new polyurethane front lip in half (Mugen lip on my 3rd gen). Just curious if there's a way to patch it and fix it up or if it's toast and I need to get a new one? It's the middle of the night now, so I'll take pics in the morning when I get home and post them up. Any help would be awesome, thanks

Use zip-ties until you can afford to purchase a new one, or have it fixed.

for some reason, i was always under the impression that Mugen always made fiberglass parts??
it definitely sounds like fiber if the cat cracked it...

polyurthane lips usually bend like crazy in all directions without bending. Ive seen an eg front lip literally be twisted up 6 times and it looked like a twizler and unraveled back to normal

Re: Smashed my polyurethane front lip, can it be fixed?

definitely not PU if it cracked. I smashed into a curb last year going like 3 and all mons did was scrape. you could try your hand at fiberglass, but that's a PITA, very messy, and very itchy

Re: Smashed my polyurethane front lip, can it be fixed?

It was definitely polyurethane, when it was shipped it was practically knotted up like a pretzel in the small box. It hit right on the corner of the lip where there's no real way for it to flex, plus I was going over 100km/h

So after some reading online, and a few videos on YouTube, I think I've found the solution...JB Weld. This is what I started with:

Held up with a shoelace so I could get to work:

It had hauled 6 of the mounting screws through the bumper, I rescrewed it to the bumper:

Then plaster inside the crack with JB Kwik-Weld and held it in place by hand for 10mins while it set, also smeared some weld on the inside and outside of the crack:

From a distance you'd never even notice it:

Tomorrow (hopefully) I'll sand down the JB Weld and then I'll have to paint the lip, I'll update with pics :)

Re: Smashed my polyurethane front lip, can it be fixed?

ha or u could get those stupid real big band aid stickers over it, nott. try what he did ^^^ with glue or bondo. u could even glue something to the back of it, to connect the two, and sand down the outside of the lip better. just try it! if it dsnt work then ur in the same boat and u have to get a new one
