Has anyone bought a bodykit online?

Hi all, I've been a member here purely for researching and I always find the info I am after (hence not needing to post and having no posts)
but I cannot find in the search exactly what I am after.
Basically I am wondering if anyone has bought anything, body kit wise, off any of the online stores?
I've found a local place that does the front and sides that I am wanting, but not the rear, and to get the custom mould for it will cost me a fortune. I'm after the Buddy Club 2 rear bumper for my car and have seen it for around $200US (plus shipping as I am in Australia)
Now I know that buying the bumper involves taking a risk that it won't be perfect fittment, but I was talking to the body shop that will be doing my front and sides about it, and they said when they fit it they will make any alterations necessary to get the best fittment.

So I'm wondering if anyone has bought any bumpers or side skirts online, and if the product was good and fittment was ok, then could you please suggest which sites you would recommend or which brand on a particular site.

thanks in advance for any help and I look forward to reading your replies

:) :)

Man do not buy a body kit. Keep it OEM with a lip or something to that extent. I had a body kit on my first integra and it was a pain in the ass. Chipping paint for instance, It seemed everyday there was a new chip on the front bumper.

that's why you don't buy fiberglass.

if the guy wants a body kit, it's his car and he should do what he wants

Yeah don't want a lip kit, way to overdone in my opinion and also i prefer the sleak lines that a full kit gives as apose to a lip kit.

and yes ogs, that's what i was after, i've been on that website before, i'm just wondering if I am safe buying from there? and i know fiberglass = prone to cracking but it's all a risk i'm willing to take to achieve the look I want to achieve.
thanks heaps so far guys :)

Re: Has anyone bought a bodykit online?

hey man, usually MHO is body kits are generally a no-go, but of course to each his own. That one doesn't look half bad tho...with the exception of those tailights on the example lude. As for reputation, here is a website that I hear has good reviews of services..you can check and see if they've been reviewed. Angie's List You can also google them and see if any reviews pop up...Ive seen that when I've googled businesses. With concern to fiberglass being an okay material at best, you might do a little bit of research on some alternative material...material that's got a reputation for standing the test of weathering and time. I hope that helps at least a little bit man, and Godspeed on your purchase.

plenty of people have purchased from them and I don't recall hearing bad feedback.

p.s. they offer that kit in a duraflex material which is a flexible plastic that is very resistant to cracking. I'd definitely give it a shot.

bodykit doesn't always = fiberglass. good luck man

I had a friend pick one up for his accord off ebay, it was made of duraflex and everything fit perfectly so I'd recommend that

Re: Has anyone bought a bodykit online?

Ok great guys, this is awesome feedback :) thanks alot :D another reason i love owning a prelude, the online forums are so friendly ^.^

I'll have a look into a duraflex one, there was one linked to me before, from Andy's Auto Sport, which seem to be quite a large store and also come up top in the google search all the time, so i'll do some research on reviews from them and might purchase the rear bumper by the end of the week.

The front bar and side skirts are being made in fiberglass, i know it is prone to cracking (especially the front bar) but the fact i'm getting it done at a local shop means that I can go back there for a good deal on fixing it up if it does crack.
One thing is for sure, once i've got the kit on, I WILL be changing my driving style, I'm already cautious but I will be even more so to make sure it's kept well looked after.

Once again, thanks heaps guys, great input and feedback :)

Edit: and dont worry, i'm not going altezzas, love my stock tail lights too much, I even did the clear indicator mod :D
