License plate relocation

I notice many of the ludes on here have the front license plate relocated into the lower front grille, instead of being mounted front and center on the bumper.

I tried and it didn't turn out anything like how I've seen it done on here. I was wondering what you used to do it (zip ties?) and how and where you fastened it there.

Close up pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Re: License plate relocation

Well, I had taken my license plate off, because I hated how it looked, and while I was awaiting a reply, I kept my license plate in my windshield.

No one replied, I kept waiting, and the plate kept sitting in my windshield.

I just paid a $56 ticket for Improper Display of Plates. Thanks for your quick response PZ.

Re: License plate relocation

I did that. Told the cop it was broken, and we hadn't made new brackets for it. He was going to let me off with a warning, but it turns out my license was expired by like 4 days. So he gave me the plate ticket instead of the unlicensed driver ticket. Pretty nice cop actually.

But the license plate is what got me pulled over in the first place.

That's the stupidest law, I was in my old jeep and I got pulled over at the beginning of the freeway ramp for having a taillight out and my license was expired like the day before and he was like "I am sorry sir but one of these other people are going to have to drive your car the rest of the way home" only problem was that only one of them knew how to drive a stick and he couldn't do it very well so we sat there to see if the cop would drive off before we left but he didn't and we were on a slight hill with loose gravel on the ground (imagine that its Idaho lol) he shot rocks all over the cop... I was very surprised he didn't pull us right back over lol.

But back to topic, I would try it with some zip ties and see if it looks how you would like it to, if you can't get it with zip ties maybe some fishing tackle or something would do it

that's nice! i made a bracket for my 350z using some spacers, brackets and bolts. mine did not require drilling new holes the back bracket went against the grill and bolted to the font plate. this seems much more simple though. how'd you plug up the holes on the bumper? i have FOUR holes on mine! like someone messed up mounting the plate the first time and drilled two more, wider holes!

Re: License plate relocation

Why would you want to move it on a 5th gen anyway? I don't have to have a front plate but seems like the only time I'd move it if I had to would be to move it OUT of the grille area.

Wouldn't this deflect air from going into the radiator, a lot worse than it does in the normal position? I like it though.

Re: License plate relocation

A little late but it seems you could get a short piece of aluminum L from home depot lowes etc. and make your own for pretty cheap with a drill bit, screws and paint. Based of the ebay pic. or angle iron like Wolf95 said
