IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
I heard good things about the VIS Mugen Replica. I actually just wanted the OEM skirts, but i can't find them (mind you, i'm in Canada, so the honda-parts websites dont work).
VIS Racing Techno R Body Kit - Full Kit for 97-02 Honda Prelude at Andy's Auto Sport Would this be decent? Can i choose the color Note; i am simply doing research. I haven't even bought a lude' yet! ![]() |

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
thats the mugen replica, and yes id rock that lol

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
I heard VIS makes the best mugen replica. Is this true?
And would the kit fit properly? Or need horendous or any amounts of Sanding? I really wish i could the find the OEM kit in a year (when i get the lude. im just preparing) |
|
|||
Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
I think the VIS fits the best, but still needs work. Just going off what i hear.
Obviously 5th gen isn't my area lol |

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
They're much cheaper on eBay man, also heard bad reviews on Andy's Auto Sport.

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
VIS definitely is the only one I would trust for a kit. Also that is the only kit I would ever rock, either the mugen replica or legit.

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
There are not any oem replicas, - correct?
![]() So that's a yes to the VIS i'm guessing? Another question. I am from Canada, and we do get quite a bit of snow here. Will the replica be able to clear the snow ( i mean it isn;t super low to the ground is it? ![]() And is there a way to choose a color? Or must i paint it? ![]() Are these authentic? http://www.autosportz.com/bodykits_9...lude_mugen.htm Last edited by Blazingangel; 02-19-2011 at 09:14 PM. |

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
i have it on a 01 prelude. it went on no problem lined up great with no extra work . it comes plain fiber glass and must be preped and painted . as for as ground clearance goes i'm on 18 with a 2 inch drop and it still have at least 3 to 4 inch ground clearance . you just have to be careful as with any body kit or lip that you put on. and you can order it direct from VIS RACING.COM

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
VIS is the best and I second what djp said, I've seen some poor reviews with andy's...and usually anything you can find there, you can find somewhere else alot cheaper. good luck man and we look forward to seein the lude whenever you decide to get it

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
Thanks for the help guys. Appreciate it.I just realized some palces still stock the oem lip in blue. Would it be a bad idea to get that and paint it using the oem color code?
cajunoutkast, when you painted it, did you prerp by sanding, priming, clear coating and painting? or simply painting and clear coating? |

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
VIS seems pretty legit. i would rock one of those kits. if i had a 5th gen =P

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
Another Question
With the mugen and replicas, is there a grill in between the hood and bumper. Or a opening? A opening would screw me in winter due to snow entering the engine bay |
|
||||
Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
i'd steer farrr away from an all fiberglass front bumper, especially one as big as the mugen, ESPECIALLY being up in canada, eh?
just me tho.

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
Damn. What would you reccomend then? I remember there was a West wings kit made of urthrane or something. Will the West wings fit smugly as well?
How fragile is fiberglass? |
|
||||
Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
pretty damn fragile. just wait for someone else to chime in whose had personal experience with an all fiberglass front bumper, they'll tell you how much of a PITA they are.
polyurethane is def the MOST durable material, that's about the only material i would get a lip/bumper out of.

Time to see their selection I hear (on this forum) that the best way to install em is to use dobule sided sticky tape (the good one) polyurethane is plastic, yes |

Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
id rock that whole kit and throw some 18s on there and just be careful, maybe some coilovers to find the ride high you want need for season changes
|
|
||||
Re: IS this a decent body kit? lip kit?
Fiberglass sucks!! ugh. go with the polyurethane and even the aftermarket body kits should have screw/bolt hole locations and pop clip locations i would think double sided sticky tape sounds like a bumper lost on the highway to me. Licenced body tech. As well stay away from Andys autosports... from what i've been seeing on other forums that place is overpriced and horrible. poly is easy to paint as well little gold or grey scotch brite some prep paste adhesion promoter and your good to spray... if theres ant nicks they need to be filled with a poly filler sanded smooth carefully and not to agressivly working down to a $00 grit then highbuild primer block smooth with 600 down to 800 and yur good to go.
