Emblem/Badge Removal & Installation

I've read the threads on emblems and badges but they aren't very straightforward or step by step as I would like before I go messing up my paint job. I have a black honda badge on my trunk that looks mad good on it, but the front badge is still the stupid stock chrome one. I have a red one thats identical to the black on on back, which I plan on painting black. Red badges = rice.

Anyway, can someone give me a stupidproof step by step of how to remove and install the front badge without ruining the paint?

Really? No one has even bothered to tell me I'm stupid yet? C'mon, someone's gotta know how to do this.

Re: Emblem/Badge Removal & Installation

get a very thin flat screwdriver and cover the tip with soft rag or sock or something and very carefully get the screwdriver under the badge and start to slightly twist the screwdriver and pry it off. do this in a couple different spots make sure not to crack the emblem. there should be two holes, one on each side of the middle line in the "H" emblem that are like little clips that you have to pop out. Be careful and go slow and it will come right off. I have taken them off plenty of times.

If they are in there with holes the worst you can do is break the old emblem.

Re: Emblem/Badge Removal & Installation

Hey thanks guys, and sorry but I can't se the video. My internet is too slow for that lol.

So how exactly does this dental floss thing work? What are they actually held on by? Adhesive? I heard heating them works, does it?

And how would I get the new one back on? Thin double sided tape? I have double sided tape but I don't think its thin enough...

3M Trim and Emblem Adhesive!

I got a tube from Walmart for like $5.00.

Good luck.

Re: Emblem/Badge Removal & Installation

Just got finished with it. I painted the red emblem I wanted to use flat black like the one on my trunk, then took the stock emblem off. Turns out the centering pins were way to small on the badge I wanted to use. So After cleaning up the spot on my hood that was underneath the badge, I spraypainted my stock emblem flat black and stuck it back on. Doesn't look too bad as long as your close enough to see the H symbol. But if you are close enough, then you see my misaligned hood, cracked bumper and numerous dots of touch up paint for little pebble chips. So I guess it could go either way.

Anyway, I'll post before/after pics later and you guys can decide if it looks like crap or not.

get the sticker remover (blue can with yellow lettering) from Advance Auto and then wash right behind it. I've never had an issue!

Re: Emblem/Badge Removal & Installation

Rice? I don't see a red badge being a race inspired cosmetic enhancement . it's just a badge. It's not like you're adding a full blown body kit with 20 air ducts. Just my 2 cents.
